It is a nice place to experience the history of city beautiful and pretty good to know about other historical interest.

Boring place if you are not the sort who loves museums and art galleries. Still the collection is worth a visit once.What really strikes you is the classical Indian apathy. You can see a huge number of staff within the museum. They'll be seen gossiping, reading newspapers, playing on their mobile phones. If these people can provide some information on the stations they are posted, it will be more than what can be called a guided tour. But, sadly as all Indian government employees they get paid for doing for nothing. What a waste of money! Fee Rs 10 per person.Using the same ticket you can visit the nearby architecture museum which tells details about how Chandigarh was built!Just outside the museum is a old military tank for photos! :)

Good but neat to do a proper maintenance. but yes worth to see it once. nice to lear many things and has good collectible. do visit once

In line with the architectural symmetry of Chandigarh, this Museum houses the Art Gallery and also has the College of Art in adjoining premises.

The building followed Le Corbusier style of architecture. The museum has a good collection of art & sculptures. However the spaces inside are really welled designed & detailed. A good place to visit in Chandigarh for an art lover.

A quite extraordinary range of artworks. The tapestries are quite lovely as are the miniature paintings but I best liked the galleries full of early Indian sculpture especially the mediaeval period. You arenot allowed to touch but they look so sensuous that they are hard to resist.

The Museum building is great - there are 3 buildings in all. The pieces are great. Variety in spite of limited collection. Free guides available. Well displayed and arranged. people are very helpful. Photos are also allowed. Fees are INR10 entrance and INR 5 for camera. it has many sections - art, sculpture, textiles etc.Art gallery has children art.3rd bulding is small and houses history, planning and maps of Chandigarh, Visit this to understand how a city can be conceptualized and then actualized.

If you want to know more about the history of the city and Le Corbusier's plans: this is the place. Plans, photographs, maquettes and even furniture are all on show.

Around 4000 years of history - documented and preserved very well! This museum deserves better attention, upkeep and time to visit.

This is a must visit place if you are an art lover. It has a large collection of old and new paintings, textile work, coins, rocks etc. It is a 10 minute ride from the Bougainvillea garden. You can take an auto or cycle rickshaw for Rs.30-40. Timings: 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. It covers several 'media' - textiles, paintings - ancient and modern; archeological bits and pieces. We particularly enjoyed the miniatures.Unusually the museum allows photography, for a small fee. I wish others did!

Clean, good collection of art. Collections from all over India, Nepal. First about textile(which i dont enjoy much) and then the mesmerizing idols of Gods and awesome collection of paintings. Please dont miss the Saraswathy pic and the pic of GuruNanakji. His eyes full of mercy... wow. I got the photos. But i didn't upload becos i want you to go there and see that. And if you like old coins they have a good collection and lots of miniature art works. Once you are finished there, there is a section called Childrens' art gallery where I suppose the local children display their art work. :) And then the science museum is a nice place for children. The display of dinosaurs is good. Evolution of mankind is also interesting (a little spooky for children hehehehe). A very good place to visit in Chandigarh and the city should be proud of it.

A great collection of archaeological objects of different periods, particularly the fascinating Gandharan scuptures inherited by the Museum. The contemporary art gallery is also worth a visit.Thankfully the museum now allows photography in the galleries.

The ancient sculptures - both Hindu and Buddhist are wonderful. There are also nice textiles and miniature paintings. One room with bronze sculptures had very little lighting making it difficult to really see, but other than that - great museum.
