It was a little windy and snorking wasn't the best but the rest was awesome, good lunch. beautiful beach and fun people.
Wonderful island to spend time at. Beautiful beach and not too wavy. Snorkeled while other family members played on beach.
We were looking forward to spending the day at Rose Island and Sandy Toes beach in particular, understanding the snorkeling was the best in Nassau. We did our research and knew the boat out left at 10am so we left the cruise ship just after 9 thinking we had plenty of time. Unfortunately we bought tickets for a "taxi" assuming it was the kind with four tires. Instead we got a water taxi. Ok, kind of cool, we thought, to take a boat to a boat. So we boarded in good spirits and waited for departure. Departure, though, didn't happen until the boat filled up. We ended up missing our excursion. Nobody's fault but our own. So we thought we'd share to spare others from a similar fate. Leave yourself 2 hours if you go the water taxi route (very enjoyable, actually). Though disappointed, we managed to make lemonade out of lemons and took an excursion to Blue Lagoon instead. We had an amazing day (see separate review).
We were picked up by Majestic Tours from our hotel, and brought over to Paradise Island (near Atlantis) to begin our boat trip. Once all the paper work was completed it was time to board the boat. Our Captain "Morgan" was excellent, continually pointing out the sights and history as we made our way to Rose Island. Once there we were greeted with a cocktail that was cold and welcome, and the island's main features were talked about. We spent the 5 hours we were there, riding the surf (it was a very windy day), snorkelling, enjoying a light but more than sufficient lunch. A person could rest/sway in the sun/shade on a huge hammock, or sit watching the ocean waters crash against the sandy beach from a wooden love seat under the trees along the coast. The sand/sun was wonderful, with well placed, moveable slouch chairs all along the beach, directly below the island bar and quiet walkways.
Well, we picked the only day that chose rainstorms for us, so we did not get much beach time. The drinks are reasonable, and we introduced Christian to the BBC drink from the Virgin Islands, so we all enjoyed those as well as shots of premium rum, in between heavy rain showers and moments of sun. The provided lunch of BBQ chicken and hot dogs was enjoyable. On a sunny day this place is ideal. Great staff of friendly people and lots to do like swim, snorkel or walk on the beach, just watch the weather reports before you go.
We went with Flying Cloud over to Rose Island. The boat itself was great and the crew were brilliant fun. Really enjoyed the sail over. We stopped to snorkel at the Sea Garden. I have obviously been spoiled as I have snorkelled in the Maldives but I was very disappointed by the lack of sea life on the reef. We then went over to Rose Island itself. The strip of beach where you land is nice but if you take a walk around the island there is a lot of garbage just lying around. This angers me. Not sure if it's tourists or locals that leave the mess but whoever it spoils it big time. Our lunch of ribs and chicken BBQ was tasty but rum punch didn't have much effect. Also we had been told that all food and drink was included. This wasn't true, only sodas and 'rum' punch was free once the lunch was served and on the way back. If you wanted water or anything before the snorkelling it was a cash bar. Very annoying as we hadn't taken any money for obvious reasons and couldn't even get a drink of water. All in all a pleasant day was had but not what I had imagined.
Everything was awesome. Nothing to dislike. A lot of private relaxing on this island. Almost seemed we were stranded.
A short 30 minute boat trip from the Paradise Island marina. Beautiful beach walking trails snorkling
I went with the Sandy Toes tour, they took us snorkeling and provided lunch. Overall, a very relaxing excursion. Sandy Toes beach was so beautiful.
Very relaxing spot with quiet area to snorkel and swim. Lots of activities and good drinks. One of the highlights of our trip to the Bahamas.
Excellent Beach...but watch for the sand flies!!! We did snorkelling and boating. pristine and very calming atmosphere.
I could have not asked for more perfection on the day we went. we felt like we had the island to ourselves (and the small boat load of people). The water was calm, blue, and white sand, the snorkeling was pretty good, and it was like paradise.
the most peaceful and secluded, crystal clear water.... no words can describe. love it. cant wait to go back.
We took Sandy Toes trip to Rose island and spent a wonderful day on the quiet private beach, swimming and snorkeling. Liked everything about it.
Great Sunday adventure....it was really crowded though. You have to fight for a spot on the boat. The food that comes with the excursion is great but they didn't have enough of any of it and ran out before everyone ate.
