This is a hidden gem totally out of the mainstream. It is just a fun place to browse both in the store and through the gardens. It is delightful and whimsical and a great way to entertain yourself on a sunday drive through the country. The braided rugs are very nice and there is always something that will attract your attention.
Nice place to visit. Clever design and layout. Quirky features and amazing hand made figures. Brilliant metal work designs.
Winter Wheat is a very special place to visit. A lot of the items are unique and are very reasonably priced. You can spend the afternoon strolling through the gardens or sitting in the shelters having a tea and cookie. One of the few attractions that has no cost and any donations are given to the animal shelter. The owner is a very special person who cares about the enjoyment his guests take in his property.
If you love folk art set in a gorgeous, country setting, then this is as good as it gets. Towering pines, with whimsical sculpture, and quirky, decorated wood cabins for resting and relaxing. The gift shop was wonderful, and reasonably priced, and also set up to be easy to navigate. We were warmly greeted, and given the lay of the land immediately. The "secret recipe" candles are a one of a kind fragrance, and I dare anyone to figure out what's in them. All in all, a charming place, and we couldn't stop smiling. The only small put off, was a giant list of "rules" on the outside of the building. No smoking is a given, but keeping small children with you at all times could be a challenge. That is a shame, because children would love this place, but because most kids I know are energetic, and might be a little excited, the "rules" posted would make me hesitant to bring them. However, I understand that with breakables in the store, bringing children (especially lively ones) might not work. Great day trip with a friend!
I enjoy going out to Winter Wheat. See the different gardens on the grounds were beautiful and lovely. In the store there were many interesting creations. It is a nice way to spend a day.
Friends recommended Winter Wheat as a day trip destination for us and we certainly were not disappointed. A stroll through the grounds revealed charming and whimsical folk art throughout. Creativity and a sense of humour is evident with each vignette. The wooded grounds and the rustic indoor rest areas add to the magic. We purchased a most reasonably priced piece of garden sculpture to remind us of our most enjoyable experience.
My friend and I stopped by here after hearing about it and we could not believe the charm and love that went into this place. It is a definite go-see if in the area. I plan on going back and taking my friends to see this wonderful creation. Very nice in the store also. DO NOT MISS THIS.
A great gift and gallery of great whimsical folksy art! Would return again!Great garden sculptural pieces to purchase- bought a hummingbird myself on a stick- metal for my Mom's Garden...it should rust naturally!Lots to see and totally enjoy!
Want to see something whimiscal and different? Then the tranquil gardens and folk art of Winter Wheat is your destination. Featuring the art of Lucy Olgeltree, this charming gift shop is nestled in the woods. Formerly the property of an old hermit, Lucy and Mike have transformed Winter Wheat into an attraction that has enchanted visitors from all over the world.
The path thorough the wooded area is scattered with odd iron ornaments with interesting stories about the area, the colour in the leaves was fabulous. The main shop was full of interesting small gifts, some original art done by the owner was beautiful. Nice place to visit on a Sunday afternoon.
amazing stuff in a real enjoyable atmosphere. lots of local art stuff ..... great place to find unique decorations
My wife and I recently returned with friends to this Magicl Wonderland and gift Shop in Sparta. We have been several times over the summer as it is close to our cottage. Owner Mike always welcomes us with a smile and appreciation of bringing new visitors. A must see if travelling around the area.
It is such a quaint, wonderful "destination". Lots of unique things to see scattered around the grounds and then a treat to see all the lovely handmade and interesting articles for sale in the "homestead". Treat yourselves!
The choices, the knowledgable staff who were friendly and not pushy. I felt like I was in a different part of the world inside and outside the store.
Always a fun stop on the way to Port Stanley. Beautiful setting but too bad it's being sold if it hasn't already been sold.
