If you're a pedestrian, take your passport and take a day trip to Canada/America via the efficient, affable but officious border control. Great views of the falls from the bridge.Get your passport stamped and get a tick in the box :-)

You cross the Rainbow Bridge to get from the US to the Canada. It is super cool and offers nice views of the falls.

Have your passport ready. The agent entering Canada was prompt and helpful in getting us directions to our hotel. The agent on the US side was also prompt and got us onto 190 (note the detour March 2015)

Drive slow and pull your camera out because you'll experience a breathtaking view of a lifetime. If there's no traffic behind you, stop and take those pictures, you'll be glad you did..

We walked over from the US to Canada. It was a great way to see the Falls, but very cold with the wind so have something to cover your face (in the winter.) It isn't a long walk and will only take a few minutes if you don't get caught up taking pictures. you really should take pictures though. There were no hassles crossing either way, however be aware you need $.50 to put in the turnstiles to go back to NY. They have change machines but make sure you have change or singles! That was a little strange.

When we visited there seemed to be a lot of traffic going into Canada. We walked right over with minimal wait going through the customs area. Walking the bridge allows you time to take in the attraction. There is a fee to come back to the US. I want to say $1 or $2 there is a change machine.

The lines to drive across are a bit slow, but it was only about $3 vs. a walk was less than a dollar (I think $0.75). The draw back is the boarder lines are hit or miss in terms of wait times. We waited about twenty minutes. It's a long walk and in the summer I'm glad we chose to drive. We crossed for the sole purpose of getting a great view of the Falls. You need to drive several miles to get around to get a good view of the Canadian Falls.

You can walk or drive this bridge from either side,we went from Canada to USA,both towns are called Niagara Falls. You pay 50 cents at the Canadian turnstiles to get on the bridge if walking then just stroll over admiring the view as you walk. We went in February and the river below was frozen over, what an amazing sight, you can get clear photos of both falls from any part of the bridge but it is better nearer the middle or Canadian side.We already had our ESTA completed so the immigration at US side was painless, although you do have to pay $6 US to enter, apparently this is included in any air fare but not if you walk or drive or train it into USA.There was nothing to do on the USA side though as the town literally closes for the winter, even the shopping mall was closed and locked up and the riverside park was inaccessible due to the snow and ice, still worth the walk for the bridge experience alone. No charges to re enter Canada although there is a customs inspection and we had bought a bottle of brandy in the only shop we found open at about a third of the price in Canada and which we were allowed to carry through without penaltyWell worth the small payment to do this, and you get a US border stamp in your passport, don't forget your passport or they will turn you back at US side and you may have difficulty getting back into Canada

Worth 50c of anybody's money, visited last week on a very cold February day. Paid our 50c at the turnstile and wandered on to the bridge, took about a million pictures of the falls in the distance, the Canadian and American flags at the centre point. Then wandered back to the canadian side, I had made sure I had our passports to re enter Canada. I understand you can get a day ESTA If you wish to view the falls from the American side for around $6 and a ton of paper work at the border.

Don't remember how much it cost now (like $ .75?) to go across but the views are worth it in our mind plus the kids thought it was so cool that we walked from Canada to the U.S.A. - their class mates didn't believe them.

The first time I visited Niagara Falls, I didn't go anywhere near this bridge, as I stayed in Canada, but this time, we travelled on foot, to the US side of Niagara Falls, so we had to cross the bridge...and boy, am I glad we did!The view from the bridge, over all three falls, the Canadian city of Niagara Falls, and further down the gorge away from the falls is just breathtaking, and the bridge is really high, looking over the edge towards the river is an impressive site in itself.Even if you don't need to cross into the USA (Or Canada, if you're coming from the other side), then it is certainly worth taking a ten minute walk over to the border control, and then back again, just for the view...and you can stand one foot either side of the USA/Canada border in the centre of the bridge, if you fancy it.

When in Niagara Falls take the time to cross the rainbow bridge walking just for the spectacular view of the American and Horseshoe Falls. Take along a camera for those amazing photos that can only be obtained from here. It is a lot easier walking this bridge during the busy tourist season to get the pictures of the falls from both the USA and Canada than driving across and waiting in long line-ups of cars.

Going to Canada and back you have a wonderful view. Its a good place to take pictures from. A must do if you go to the falls.

We crossed over the bridge to Buffalo. There were two hotels/casinos open as well as the duty free. All other buildings we closesd, abandoned, and run down. There was no area plowed to see the falls from the US side. We spent less than an hour there. Big disappointment

I frequently travel between Canada and the US and the bridge is spectacular in all seasons. It was amazing the other day to see the river below so frozen that there were no patches of water to be seen.
