I have visited many gardens in North American and I found this garden worth the visit. My visit was in August so much of the colour was supplied by annual transplants which were used extensively in Victorian gardens. I would like to see more variety in the annual plantings as many of the same plants were used throughout the gardens and a bit more variety would be well received. I thought the perennial staking quite poor and could be done more invisibly so we would see the plants and not the stakes. The garden was well marked for visitors and I think a touch garden would be lovely for both children and adults as a small addition. On the whole the garden was well maintained especially the Rose Garden which I know as a horticulturist is high maintenance. Cheers to the staff here.
Worth a visit. Not cheap. Perhaps maybe during the warmer months, altho' it wasn't too bad when we visited it. Some of the summer blooms were still visible.
lovely - especially liked seeing the dikeworks built by Acadians 400 years ago and the Acadian cottage replica
this is a beautiful location and a must see. quite large, beautiful grounds and great food. This is definitely a location worth taking an afternoon to visit.
Am a member of this wonderful place . It is a great spot to enjoy and gardens are different each month .. Members receive a monthly newsletter full of information and pictures worth the membership fee! Trish is a great photographer ! Couldn't believe the flowers .. Even roses still in bloom .
The gardens are divided into separate areas, which show different styles of gardening across time. We were late in the year but it was still interesting and the victorian gardening was fabulouis.
Lovely well maintained beautiful gardens in a gorgeous setting with many interesting plants and designs Don't miss a chance to enjoy this lovely spot while in Annapolis Roya
Different styles of gardens, from formal to vegetable; lovely roses, interesting arrangements of plantings
When we woke up to fog we were a little worried about visiting these beautiful gardens. As well as enjoying the flowers we like to take loads of photographs. However, the fog soon lifted and we managed to achieve what we wanted. It is a shame that all the flowers can't be out at the same time for all the summer as we did find some of the flowers were over by the end of August when we were there. The gardens are kept so beautifully and with the aid of the map given to you on entrance you can walk on every path without feeling lost. It did seem expensive but not compared to English entrance prices to the equivalent.
This garden would be better with more plants in bloom, which means visit in July or August, not mid-September. The garden is nicely laid out with a brochure that numbers the gardens and shows you the way. It would be nicer if more plants were labeled. Most were not.
This is a beautiful way to spend an afternoon - the paths are easy to get around, the garden displays are beautiful, and the maps and signage are excellent. I really enjoyed the "dyke walk" and all the historical information it contained. We were there on Sept. 24 and there was still lots of bloom! The rose garden is amazing.
Not a great deal of parking and not dog friendly were our initial impressions. At over $11 per person, it is rather steep for what is on offer. We visited on a beautiful day in late September when the conditions couldn't have been much better. It started off well with a rather nice garden off to the left when we passed through the wooden arch, but after that they have very few flowering plants. Most things were well labelled, but they could be larger and in more prominent locations. They have a couple of nice ponds and benches throughout, but it is sadly lacking colourful content. Even the rose garden didn't look very healthy. We have been spoiled with Butchart Gardens in Victoria and Minter Gardens outside Vancouver and this facility definitely wasn't in their league.Rather disappointing, have seen better flower gardens with much more colour for free in public parks.
We were there in September and it still was spectacular. Artwork is displayed among the beautiful trees and flowers. There is a dyke walk of the Acadian dykes. Great walk. There is also an Acadian house. Gift shop is nice as is the center. THey have a cafe, but we did not visit it. THere are lots of events at the garden.
gardens were well maintained. Because of timimg of our visit somethings were already passing by. Nice Victorian gardens and sweet gift shop.
You can easily pass a couple of hours wondering around this picturesque, historic garden. Admission prices may appear to be high at first ($27 for two adults), however after touring the gardens it became quite apparent that the money that is charged is necessary for keeping the grounds in such pristine conditions - so well worth the money. There is a little restaurant/café on the grounds that services excellent home-brewed sweet tea. Even though we went at the end of the bloom season (1st of Sept), there were still lots of flowers to see.
