We heard from some other tourists that we met that the theatre in Cow Head was very good. We got tickets for Tempting Providence. A small theatre, an extremely talented cast and a very creatively choreographed production. We were quite simply blown away with the quality of what we saw. The story was incredible and the way the characters brought it to life made for a very memorable evening. If you go to Gros Morne don't miss this!
Don't be lulled into assuming that just because they are located in a small, isolated town, and because the number of seats is quite modest, that you won't experience top notch theatre. Their 2014 production of "Tempting Providence" was especially powerful and we walked back to our B&B with a knot in our throat. We had planned our itinerary around this show and were rewarded with a truly memorable performance.
What a great evening...super theatre performance, down home cooking and the opportunity to break bread with people from around the country. Not to be missed if you are staying in Western Newfoundland.
We have seen almost all the plays they have offered over the years you can't go wrong with anything this troupe does.It all high end and a great value would cost you double any where in north america to see quality live theater like this.Local Newfoundland story's with the best professional actors and actresses Newfoundland offers
Wonderful wonderful show. Fantastic voices, beautiful performances and it made us feel part of the community and culture. Wish we could have gone to every show that week!
"Tempting Providence" was engaging for all of us. We were travelling with another couple, one likes theatre, one likes history, one is easy to please and the last one is hard to please, but everyone loved this show. We booked ahead and were given seats in the front row, with a great view of the whole show.
Great performances in Beauty....an intense and thorougly enjoyable play! Alison Crowe gave a wonderful performance!
Great Newfoundland music and stories, preceded by Dinner in Shallow Bay Motel. We did not attend the theatrical performances, of which there are several to choose for 2014 season.
We were fortunate enough to see "Tempting Providence", a play based on the life of a local nurse during the 1920s. The actors were amazing, the production professional and creative, and the storyline completely engaging. This will be one of the highlights of our 3 weeks in Newfoundland, and one of the best live theatre performances we've ever seen. Tickets go quickly and it's a small intimate theatre so book ahead. There are several offerings including musical performances. We're so glad our B&B host suggested it when we booked our room - it was wonderful.
The Gros Morne Theatre Festival is an amazing, collection of local theatre and music, and you will walk away astounded by the talent.
The group sings traditional songs of Newfoundland. They are what Newfoundland is all about. Young group sings, tells tales, and regales of newfoundland. We visited Cows head July 2-4th 2014. Outstanding talent from this young group! Not to be missed!
We enjoyed 2 musical shows, with outstanding talent! First was an entertainer singing all Newfoundland songs. The 2nd night were 6 entertainers singing and playing all types of instruments. Great fun, a must while in the area!
I saw "The Known Soldier" in July of 2014 and was mightily impressed by the play itself and the quality of the performances. Truly professional and well worth the trip.
We attended ' Tempting Providence' and it was excellent! I expected an amateur performance and instead soaked a very professional production. Don't miss this theatre. We talked to others who had attended other productions and were very happy.
We were able to attend one play--a World War I Newfoundland soldier's experience. Cast of 3 performed brilliantly and with immense verve. This theatre is a west coast Newfoundland jewel. We regretted only that our schedule did not permit more opportunities to enjoy high quality live performances.
