My wife and I attended the Bell Centre for an evening performance from a stand-up comedian. LOCATION: The theatre is situated in the 144th St. & 64th Ave. area of Surrey at Sullivan Heights Secondary School and is most conveniently (and commonly) accessed by vehicle. PARKING: Parking overall could be much better. The main (North) lot has what appears to be very small parking spaces and is poorly laid out. There were numerous vehicles parked over the parking lines wasting a valuable parking spot. If you arrive late, don't bother to try to find a spot, instead, if you don't mind a short walk (5min max), there is a smaller parking lot located to the south of the school off 61a Ave. This is an "overflow" lot where parking is usually always available and you can avoid the hassles of the other two main lots. Of course one could also arrive early...The VENUE: The theatre is located within the school and as such suffers from a lack of theatre ambiance. While there was some signage directing people to their various seating areas, it could definitely be improved. The THEATRE: The layout of the theatre is standard with the interior providing a functional if not a bit staid, environment. We were seated in the balcony at the inner edge and the sight lines and sound were very good.OVERALL: We had a great time and enjoyed the show. The experiences of others will vary with specific personal preferences and the performance (i.e. stand-up comedy, a play, symphony). The parking, high school location and other small issues explain the three stars. Nevertheless, given the right performance, we will be back.
Been here for many concerts, dance recitals and plays. This is a high quality facility that deserves your attention when an event is hosted here. Lots of wood with special attention given to acoustics throughout. Very well done
There is additional parking that enters from the road behind the center that most people dont know about.Parking is free
Many people seem to like this place, but I wish someone had warned me about it, so I think I should say this: the seats (in the balcony) were crushed so close to those in front and back it was almost impossible to get in and out, and horribly uncomfortable. The house lights were dim to the point of being dangerous, as were the seating arrangements for wheelchairs - they were partially blocking the walkways (without lights!). The ushers didn't seem to know where anything was, and signage was not good. Lots of confusing stairs and not many exits - if ever there were an evacuation, it would be a nightmare. The sound system wasn't great, but that may have been the particular artists' equipment, I don't know. Cafes and restaurants aren't really far, but there's nothing right in the neighborhood. One good thing: parking is easy.
If you are able to attend a Vancouver Symphony concert here you will enjoy the professional production. Other events may also be a choice.
How nice to not have to travel to Vancouver for this wonderful VSO Christmas concert. The centre is well run and organized. Parking is a bit tricky if you aren't an early bird as at the end of the show it's a zoo leaving if you aren't in a favourable parking spot. Luckily we were.
When they host events they are well put together and entertaining. Bringing together many types of ppl through their cultural events as well :)
Everything is good. The performances well practiced, Neat and clean theatre. Good performances. Good rates. Good coffee shop.
great seating, stage could be more wider, excellent theatre had a good time the you were able to talk to other people between performances with out shouting as the seating was great.
Vancouver Symphony plays here regularly - while it doesnt have quite the same character as the Orphuem, the acoustics are fine, and the view from (just about) ecent. Avoid the first few rows though, the stage is too high for much of a view if you are too close to the front.
Our daughters' dance school holds their annual year-end performance at the Bell Centre, and it's a good venue. We've also attended another show here.Everything is what you'd expect from a proper modern theatre: seating layout offers good sightlines to view the stage, the sound system is excellent, and the overall look and feel of the establishment is good.Being attached to the high school takes away a little of the 'old-world' ambiance when you're coming and going, and in the lobby, but on the inside you could be in any decent theatre in any urban centre.
My daughters dance recital was held here. Great acoustic and site lines. Clean, Modern and pleasant.
Small but terrific theatre in Surrey offering all the amenities of a large downtown theatre. Loads of free parking, easy access, terrific sightlines (all seats are very close to the stage) and wonderful acoustics!
Went to Bell to hear Vancouver Symphony. Good acoustics, well appointed.
Great theatre for Surrey. We enjoy everything about the centre. Parking is good and costs are affordable. Staff very good.
