I visited this area at lunch time. Great interesting shops, cafes, bars, restaurants. I think at night it is packed. My experience with a " Italian " restaurant was not great. Many nice and historic buildings. Next time when I am back I will visit the Farmers Market.
Love the feeling of being there. Lots to do. Shopping, eating and Farmers Market. Nothing I don't like about it.
This great market well worth a visit. Lots of interesting things on sale (not cheap). Selection of locally produced organic foods particularly impressive and we much enjoyed the cinnamon buns!
There are plenty of unique and interesting shops, cafes, bars, restaurants in Old Strathcona, especially along Whyte Ave. During the summer it's festival season and the farmer's market on saturdays
A fun and funky neighborhood with lots of shopping and eating choices. Great public library, tea houses, bookstores, and a few big grocery stores too. Old Strathcona Antique Mall was a huge find; I was lost for hours inside and bought more costume jewelry than I thought I would!
Always busy with little of real interest on display. Restaurants overpriced compared to other areas of city. Better options exist.
Old Strathcona is definitely a place you need to check out of you're visiting Edmonton. Make the trip! It won't disappoint!
Really good selection of restaurants and bars (and shopping), bad thing too many drunks after midnight, and you should not be there once bars shut down, on busy weekends lots of fights.
This area on the south side of Edmonton is truly an interesting visit. Walking down Whyte Avenue, looking at the old buildings, the very interesting and uniques stores is a great summer treat (nice weather for walking). There are people playing instruments, lots of out door seating areas, lots of people to watch and the shopping is terrific. I believe Edmonton is known for the Strathcona Area for good reasons.
Exploring the quirky but pleasant length of Old Strathcona took me back in many ways to the small town Alberta I knew from my day's in Wainwright, Elks point and St Paul. Alberta architecture and friendly people with a good non-chain used book store to browse and enjoy. Strongly recommend if you want some calmer peace of mind in Edmonton.
Great to eat, shop and hang out with friends. Make sure you check out the farmers markets on Saturdays :)
Travelling with our dog means that we are often walking with him on leash and we appreciate the great stores in Old Strathcona that do things like provide chairs for the humans and water bowls for the dogs to enjoy time on the outside patios.Lots of interesting, unique and fun shops to visit. the farmers market is incredible. I have done the ghost walking tours twice and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of the area.Charmaine HammondTeam Toby's Paws Across Canada Tourwww.TheOriginalTeamToby.com
We have our favorites such as Strathcona market, Mikes News stand,Indigo and venture into other stores north and south of 82 avenue.
Wonderful place to wander. Many small shops containing many hidden treasures. Make sure to allow lots of time for browsing.
This is a good place to do some walking when the weather is good. It gets a little cold during the winter, but I still like walking here on warmish days in the winter. You get one off stores here that you can't get in the shopping malls. Day times are the best for families. Too much drinking and partying in the evenings.
