My cousin kept raving on how cool this place was and after a few visits to Rougemont, we finally pulled the trigger and paid this place a little visit. The atmosphere inside is very cozy and extremely relaxing. The staff there was very knowledgeable and very engaging. We had the pleasure to have Alex giving us the little 15 minute tour as well as the wine tasting. He was very knowledgeable on all the products as well as speaking really good English. The tour was fairly short but to the point and not dragging. It was also very informative and interesting. The wine tasting was FREE as was the tour. The wines we tried were all very good and so clean to the palate. It is definitely worth paying a visit to this place as the tour and the tasting are both free of charge and the whole experience very interesting. Merci Beaucoup Michel for continuing your grand father's work.
I want there with my Family and friends, The cidrerie (Cider place) are giving free tours of the place and explanation on the process (there is an English option if you dont ask it will be in French!. The tour is short but enough and at the end you get free Cider tasting which is a great bonus. After the tour we went on the Cider hike. It cost 3$ pp but it is totaly worth it. there is a path that splits in the middle for a 45 min or 1:30-2:00h hike. The path is amazing, and although the hike is not easy dont skip it ! There are also a lot of apple picking places in the area in the right time of season.BTW and this is important, the reason I choose this hike is that it is DOG FRIENDLY !
The Cidrerie is a fun family or couples attraction. You can buy local products, including a wide variety of apple ciders. But the real fun is during the fall season, when the leafs change colors, the weather is just right and the place throws family oriented parties. But for me, its an occasion for a nice short hike (max 3.5 km) up the hill. Its one of the few hikes where you can bring your dog (on a leash). Its not a tough hike, but not boring either. And when you get down, that cider on tap is twice as good cause you've earned it!
I would rate the Michel Jodoin Cidrerie was the best cidrerie I visited in Quebec. The employee at the Michel Jodoin was very helpful and the samples led to a trunk full of Michel Jodoin product. The ice cider is wonderful, both the basic and rose versions. I also purchased non-alcoholic rose cider, taste wonderful also. I've never quit tasted anything like this.
After visiting 4 wineries/cider breweries in one day with friends from Europe, Michel Jodoin gets my vote for best overall. As his website says, he was the first to commercially brew cider in Quebec for the modern taste and in the short years that he has been doing it, since 1988, he has perfected his product. The ciders were delicious, ranging from the light and sparking to my personal favourite which was a rosé ice cider, made from Geneva apples whose flesh is rosé so there are no additives of other fruits. It makes a delicious accompaniment to a light lunch on a hot day or with cheese and local patés. The brewery is small and the delightful assistant offered us a 15 minute tour of the facilities before bringing us back for our tasting. All this was free of charge. I would definitely recommend this to Montrealers who have not made the short drive to Rougemont and to all visitors to Quebec.
Le seul à avoir un alambic dans la région. Il conçoit un brandy aux pommes vraiment fantastique!! Sans compter les autres produits qui sont aussi très bons. Un détour vaut la peine.
