A real Promenade along the river with a beautiful view. North, can be seen the bridge which takes you to Ile d'Orleans, across is the city of Levis and south the City of Quebec. All in one is a travel back in time, a great view and good air.
its and amazing setting, with all the views of the St Lawrence and the Chateau Frontenac in the back ground. You just know you are in the presence of one of Canadas founders .. wonderful and historic setting.
This is one of the many multifunctional trails in the region. It follows the North Shore of the St Lawrence river beginning in the old port area and extending to the St Foy district near the two bridges. Much of the promenade in within green spaces, and the walking/ biking trail are separate. Total distance is 10 km, but the Promenade connects with other trails: 1) the south shore via the Pont de Quebec, 2) the St Charles River, 3) the Montmorency Falls and 4) the rail to trail route that extends to Rivière à Pierre, a town in the Portneuf Region about 100 km away. For the first time visitor, I highly recommend biking the circular route counterclockwise, starting from the Old Port and heading to the Pont de Québec, crossing over to the south shore, heading East to Levis, and finally taking the ferry (3$//bike+rider). Total riding distance is 34 km.
We didn't want to leave Quebec City so we decided to take the more visually appealing route out of town... and we were so happy that we did! La Promenade Samuel-De Champlain was not congested in any way. We had an excellent view of the river, and even snuck up to the battlefield for a birds-eye view of the river and surrounding mountains. While we visited in winter, we remarked at how nice it would be to walk through this area in the summer.
This is the best little walk in Canada in the best little town. Beautiful views of the St Lawrence and surrounded by complete Charm!
it's a nice walk up to the plains of Abraham along the river, there is usually lots of people jogging or walking along here. It's pretty easy and not too many stairs. Part of a nice path you can stroll all the way around the old town
Nice path by the St-Lawrence Seaway. Different sculptures to see, sail boats in the summer and cruise ships in fall. Biking and roller blading also allowed

Hi Jo T,Thank you for your review. We feel however you are referring to another walkay : Promenade des Gouverneurs. Starting at the boardwalk of Terrasse Dufferin, behind the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, this promenade follows the fortifications up to Citadelle de Québec. As for Promenade Samuel-De Champlain, it longs the St. Lawrence River for 2.5 km, with a bike lane, soccer fields, a public art works park, an observation tower, etc.We hope to welcome you at Promenade Samuel-De Champlain on your next visit in Québec City!Regards,Geneviève ClavetCommunications and public relationsCommission de la capitale nationale du Québecgenevieve.clavet@capitale.gouv.qc.ca
