So i noticed that some comments were that this place was very crowded, but we visited during Christmas week so it was pretty much empty. Very quaint square and a historic must see place for sure! Spend no more then half an hour here and move on.

A bit of trivia: One of the scenes of the movie "catch me if you can" was made in place Royale in front of the old church. This is where he was caught printing bills et, and when he walked out a bunch of police car came and arrested himYou did not know that did you.Camille from Ottawa

This is an historic must stop! A visit to place Royale is like a step back in time to the early days of New France. It was here that Samuel de Champlain founded Canada in 1608.Admire historic Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church, the oldest stone church in North America (1688). And don't miss the immense fresque des Québécois, which retraces 400 years of the city's history.

Didn't get to enjoy this area as much as hoped - filled with several tour busses full of schoolchildren.A neat spot though, wish there had of been more time to go back to explore!Nearby is the ferry that goes to Lévis - take it for the best views of the city skyline!

it is the history you feel all around the church in that square you have the impression that it was like yesterday

The founding place of Canada, also is the tourist center in Quebec where people stop by for a city tour. Great atmosphere with nice building and architecture - and it would be much more interesting if you could do a little French while in Quebec!

We visited over the Christmas holiday and found the museum not at all crowded. There is a movie to introduce you to Champlain (on the hour in French and the half hour in English) and the movie was great, very informative. Following that there are two floors of artifacts and information. Not a big museum by any stretch, but nonetheless it was an enjoyable visit. If you have children, on the lowest level are clothes that the kids can put on and 'pretend' in the time period.

My travel friend and I were doing the museum trio admission package with La Musee de l'Amerique Francophone and La Musee de la Civilisation. La Musee de la Place Royal is in a great location and easy to find in Old Quebec. All the museums are very close to each other. One of the levels features a fun little board game you can stop and play.A lot of very old things to see! Many artifacts to spend some time looking at, with great detail!

This is the original site of the town of Quebec and a place where many people gather and tour the area. It is near the Funicular to the upper town and Hotel Frontenac.

We visited Place Royale while a light snow was falling. Very peaceful and beautiful in front of the church! Great little boutiques and very few cars!

This plaza / square is celebrated as the founding site for Canada. We didn't have much time there, but the quaint shops and historic buildings surrounding the plaza could have been explored for an hour or more!

Beautiful spot. We went there on a ghost walk and learned the history. Loved the cobblestones. Beautiful shops.

A small and beautiful courtyard surrounded by a church, nice old buildings and Louis XIV Statue at the center place. Around the corner is the world famous La Fresque des Quebecois wall mural. You must not miss viewing this spectacular 5 stories high wall mural.
