Fantastic experience. The power of the sea is overwhelming. The pathways are well made up and the viewpoints excellent. And it is free.

Ten out of ten, what an awesome place to visit, its free and its beautiful. Be prepared to walk a little, not a tough walk though, the view is amazing and the blowholes are fantastic. Take your camera!!

Gorgeous, especially at high tide when the blowholes are visible. Well worth a stop for this stunning view over the rocks and down the shoreline.

With ample parking, pancake cafe and a cafe and gift shop this is a well run attraction. A short round trip walk of about 15-20 minutes to see the layered pancake rocks. Stunning. Then be fascinated with the blow holes as the sea crashes in and splashes up the rocks for an amazing photo opportunity. Best viewed at high tide for better effects. Good walkway except just 5 small steps near the middle. Not to be missed

One of the sites recommended on many New Zealand tour guides is the Pancake Rocks. We found them quite interesting and worth stopping by on your way somewhere. We took plenty of photos and enjoyed the walking paths while there, but the rocks as a destination on their own was not my ideal idea of a destination.

A walk around the rocks will only take about 30 minutes but there is so much to see. The solidified layers of river bed silt have been thrust upwards over the millennia to form strange columns of rock that look just like layers of pancakes.

Must see, if you are in the area of Greymouth. At low tide nice to see, but nothing special. Recommended to drive west coast road from North to South, better views.

A really accessible walk takes you in past the blow holes to the cliffs and the beautifully weird rock formations. It was mid-winter and the wind was gusting strongly, but it made it all the more spectacular. I suspect on a calm day (or at low tide) it would be nowhere near as interesting but it's still a pleasant stop off the highway.

Easy to access, the Pancake Rocks are excellent and the area well laid out with great interpretation boards throughout. At high tide a couple of blowholes shoot water some 20 metres into the air in a spectacular show - so try to time your visit to coincide with high tide..or even go twice of necessary. We did and loved it. Easy walking make it accessible to all.

A perfect stop off along the stunning!!! highway on the west coast of NZ. The rocks them selves are unique (layered like pancakes) and the walk ways through the bush and around the site are fantastic. The rocks are famous also for the blow holes which become active around high tide with an on shore wind, quite spectacular if you time it right and still worth the time if you don't. The cafe does some of the best coffe in the country and the small walk (the truman track) approx 2 min before pancake rocks heading south is an absolute must, short and quite literally breath taking. Such a magical place :-)
