Excellent source of local history, particularly of the devastating earthquake that transformed the character of Hawkes Bay.As part of admission, the museum offers a seek/find activity for children that involved finding clues and deciphering a code. The result was a price for cracking the code and discovering the correct answer. An excellent activity to keep children engaged and assisted with the flow of our visit.
Absolutely amayzing. The show couldn't get any better well done. The singing and dancing top notch. Bring on the next show to support the theatre
Was fortunate to be in Napier and went to see the local production of "Mumma Mia". The production was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed it. This art deco theatre is simply stunning. It has obviously been recently refurbished and is a joy to behold, It has a beautifully restored interior and a picturesque exterior. Well worth a visit, especially if you can get indside the theatre to see the iconic art deco sculptures on the walls.
Have been to many shows at the theatre and seating is comfortable and views of the stage are clear. Sound system very good
With the closure (possibly for good) of the Hastings Municipal Theatre due to earthquake risk, the Napier muni is Hawkes Bay's one remaining heritage theatre venue. The grand Art Deco architecture is a joy to behold - the much photographed exterior gives way to a beautifully restored interior crammed with subtle deco touches. Seating is comfortable, and the acoustics excellent. Well worth a visit.
Very surprised at the size once inside, restoration work has been done really well, given that it still runs shows definitely would like to have seen one.
We were lucky enough to attend the Ballet at his theatre . The ballet was quite beautiful, but equally stunning was this beautiful Art Deco theatre. It is worth a visit just to see it and I believe some of the organised tours do take visitors there. To go to the ballet there and take in it's atmosphere was just the icing on the cake.
The theatre has been altered over time but has retained most of the original decoration and even the garish, then new neon lights. The Australian wool carpet is an exact replica of the ruined original one. A successful renovation mindful of modern safety requirements.
This classic art deco building is well worth going inside to see the changing lights and the artwork
This is on the trust walking tours, and it is really memorable. The exterior and interior are prime deco. It appears that the musical offerings are well worth taking in…but we were off on the performance schedule.
The Theater is simply Deco beautifulIf you have the chance to see a show there then do soMake sure to see the lights
We were lucky enough to get to see the inside of this theatre - if you as passing, simply call in and ask if it is open. The interior is stunning with all the expected art deco embelishments.
Wonderful little theatre, they did a great job on the phantom production, the best ive seen, has good views of the stage wherever you sit, will be going back again in April 2014
We stopped in the theater as part of a day tour of Napier. It was really a treat to go inside. The interior is stunning, and a reminder of the theaters at home that unfortunately met the wrecking ball. Fortunately, this one has been saved and lovingly preserved. The theater is a real treasure and well worth a stop.
We enjoyed a tour of this theatre as part of our overall tour of Napier. It was great to hear about the theatre's history and see that the building has been beautifully preserved.
