It's a view that just keeps on giving, the viewpoints are spectacular (especially at sunset) and the trails are not too challenging and in good condition. I would highly recommend doing a hike to 'castle ruins' if you do go - get inside the view you are looking at. You will not regret it!
A rewarding approach is to hike down into the valley and walk up the Giant Stairway, taking breaks along the way to enjoy the scenery, which culminate in the famous view of the Three Sisters from Echo Point. It's very touristy; the hiking paths are totally prepared; and the Stairway, of course, is completely manmade, so if you like things that are off the beaten path, this isn't for you.
Always amazing to see nature at it's best. The Tourist Information Centre is first class. Parking is metred 1 hour minimum but you need this even if only visiting the information centre. Lots of tourists even mid- week.
Well worth a walk to see these beautiful rocks. Great opportunity to take lots of pictures. We stayed here for a couple of hours and the light changes were fantastic
amazed by this place since I was a kid. Extremely busy during the day so we waited for sunset & almost had the place to ourselves which was amazing. Best to go as an independent traveller to avoid the crowds
We understand that many visitors sign up for one of the companies available to take you around to the various points of interest. We decided to do our own thing so took the train from Sydney to Katoomba, which was interesting and relaxing. It does make many stops so, if using this route, you need to be comfortable with a stop/start kind of ride. Scenery was lovely and the fare was inexpensive. The walk from the train station to the scenic lookout of the Three Sisters took us about 25 minutes. The Three Sisters rock formation/Blue mountain vistas are absolutely breathtaking, in our opinion. Well worth the trip! We have some amazing pictures of the visit. And if looking for an interesting restaurant with good food -- stop at the Yellow Deli on your way to/ or back from the lookout.
Amazing view. You can get plenty of information at the information counter just at the corner. Advise to spend some time to the walkway at Giant Stairway ! Really cool !
.....from the visitor centre along the upper (flat) cliff track and then down into the valley via the furber steps. As we're not the fittest of trekkers we wanted something that didn't require lots of tricky climbing up or down and this suited the bill perfectly. The views are breathtaking and taking the scenic railway back up to the top allows time to take in some of the other fantastic falls & walks in the surrounding area
The view of the Three Sisters from Echo Point is great but we also did the walk to The Three Sisters which didn't take too long but has a section of very steep steps. Our 5 year old son desperately wanted to do the walk and managed this fairly easily though I wouldn't probably take younger children as the risk of falling on the steps would be to high. It was worth the climb to be able to actually walk right over to this great icon.
