My other half and a dear friend of long standing visited Harrow Homestead (approx. 30 minutes S-W of Toowoomba near Cambooya) during its open weekend in October 2014 to inspect the extensive gardens (over 10 acres) and the impressive, large homestead built in the 1870's. The gardens are delightful and carefully maintained - mostly roses. Unfortunately many were still not in full bloom owing to the cold Spring in September. The house is interesting with its impressive cedar and hoop pines walls and ceilings. Devonshire teas were available and were most enjoyable. Entry to the homestead and gardens was $10 per person and the Devonshire teas an extra $5 per head. All up a delightful visit and I would recommend a visit. If you missed out in 2014 then do make an effort to get there in 2015. Open days in 2015 will be Sat and Sun (10 am to 4pm ) March 7 and 8 and then again during the Carnival of Flowers in September (19 -20) and ( Sept 26 -27) 2015. The property is still very much a working cattle business and the if you are interested in early colonial history of the Darling Downs then it is worth considering. Toilets are wheel chair friendly but there are several steps leading up to the main entrance of the homestead. Not sure if there is wheel chair access to the homestead itself. Would recommend one phones to enquire ( 0451 545 523).
