This Catholic Church has a fantastic painted ceiling. The guide, Bruno has been a parishioner for 50+ years.

If this church was in Europe, it would form part of the tourist trail in any provincial town, so why not in Australia? The wall paintings are very bright and if you have time, it is worth looking more closely at the detail.

The most spectacular church paintings in Australia. The church was painted inside over several years similarly to the Sistine Chapel in Rome. The themes of Heaven, Hell and Purgatory are similar too.

Go in, look up and be amazed! Oh and don’t forget to donate to the restoration fund. It would be a crying shame to not restore this fantastic church to its full glory.

This was a surprise. I consider myself very lucky to have passed through Bairnsdale in the company of an art academic who knew about the frescoes covering the interior of this church and could point out interesting details. Of course Francesco Floreani was no Michelangelo, but he worked with such dedication in the traditional mode that the result is touching and very special.

The paintings are simply magnificent, drop into the Church next to the information centre, and be prepared to be blown away

This Church is moer like cathederals that i have seen i Europe .It is very grand and the paintings are beautiful, was happy that i could " light a candle" for loved ones , albeit a battery operated one

You so must, must, must go and see even if you are not a practicing christian, this is a beautiful and breathtaking see the hand painted ceilings and architectural of the building is amazing.

Gorgeous church, and the mural on the ceiling must be seen! The stained glass windows are amazing, and well worth the stop to see.

The church is remarkable and words cannot describe what a fantastic representation of religious architecture it is. Stop in, say a prayer for humanity and thank god for such remarkable places as this! Also leave them a small donation to help keep it open.

This is a beautiful church and a great opportunity to get some quiet out of the sun. The door was opened and the place felt very welcoming.

The murals were extraordinary especially the ceiling. The stained glass windows were excellent too. So old and just beautiful.

Had no previous information about the Cathedral, but a local suggested we pay a visit. So unexpected and truly beautiful. Got some amazing photos too as a reminder. Worth a visit.
