We've lived in the district for nearly 25 years, and had not heard of this relatively recent attraction until recently. Visited for a lazy Sunday afternoon lunch with family, and it was a highly enjoyable afternoon. Cafe style food and service was excellent, and the coffee was good. The gardens around the property are very impressive. We really enjoyed the outdoor chess, and the maze itself was a lot of fun, well maintained and quite challenging. What a terrific setting and venue.- congratulations to the staff and management. Myrrhee is not far from either Wangaratta or Benalla, and a visit is thoroughly recommended, and we will be back.
Although Myrrhee is off the beaten track it is worth finding as the maze is quite enjoyable. It took four of us about 40 minutes to find the central point which was a raised platform. As well as the maze the property has a restaurant which provides lunches, coffee, snacks, etc. and the grounds are very pleasant to wander in. An enjoyable time was had by all.
The maze is just amazing. Well kept and fun to wander around ,wondering if the next turn will be the middle. After exploring the maze and the beautiful gardens, (wonderful roses), we ventured into the cafe. It took a few minutes to decide which yummy offering to sample. The smiling barister presented us with our coffee,, their own special blend and we were left to enjoy our meal.We found the staff friendly and the prices were in line with other tea rooms and cafes. Certainly cheaper than going to the Hampton Court Maze.
As a first time visitor to the Brookfield Maze, it was a little difficult to find but once there we had quite an enjoyable afternoon. The entry fees were more expensive than we would have expected to pay but the quality of the maze and grounds was quite good. The coffee shop served full meals which again were a little pricey but of good portion size and quality. It's a nice place to visit during the spring and autumn months.
We decided we go to Benalla the back way as we have not been this way for years. We ride past the old tobacco drying sheds and on our right is a sign saying Brookfield Maze (Now Open) and a coffee sign. we must stop for a coffee. Parked the harley we went in and was greeted with smilling faces from the staff. We asked not to late for lunch. The male owner said never to late. A young lady took our order while the guy made our coffee. Out came our meals. We ordered pork belly and roast veggies. The pork just melted in your mouth with such flavour and the veggies were fresh and hot. The coffee was great. The lady owner said they had only been open for a week and a half. We have decided we are going there for lunch every second sunday. Stay tuned we will let you know if is as good the second time. We did not bother with the maze.
It was a bit of a drive from wangaratta but totally worth it. The cafe had great food with friendly staff who showed us the private guardens which were stunning. There was also a checkers and chess set which were fun and a hidden cheek which was clean enough to drink from. The maze was huge and even after been shown how to get to the middle it was impossible to remember the way. All and all I will be going back and a highly recommended place to visit.
Went there with a group of girls and another mother . Amazing ... Beautiful gardens ,beautiful food , great price, staff very friendly and helpfully ... Great for a relaxing afternoon while kids have fun...
Although we live in the area, we had never been for a drive out to Myrrhee previously and although it is out of the way, it is just gorgeous and well worth the drive. We have been to mazes all around Australia and this would be one of the best and biggest that we have visited. It took us about 30 minutes to find the middle platform and to get back out again (but many people took a lot longer!)We had a wonderful lunch and (several) coffees. The gardens were wonderful also. It is our intention to visit again in the middle of spring when all the flowers will be out.It may be about 45 minutes drive from Wangaratta, but it is well worth the visit.
Nestled in the picturesque hills of North East Victoria, Brookfield Maze is about 45 minutes drive from Benalla or Wangaratta in the King Valley area. We have lived in North East Victoria for over 10 years but I had not visited this area previously as it is off main roads. I was pleasantly surprised and found it to be a lovely scenic drive. We have been to several mazes in Australia and Overseas and the Brookfield Maze is up there with the best we have visited. The Maze is large and we took about half an hour to find our way to the centre platform and back out again, but somehow managed to miss one of the clues. A lot of work has gone into the beautiful gardens surrounding the Maze, which also include a brick maze (labyrinth), sculptures, chess and checkers. Something for everyone. We also had lunch (and several cappuccino's). There was a great variety of home cooked meals and desserts available (the choice was hard). The Chicken Pie and Quiche were excellent and we although we didn't have room for the desserts, they looked delicious. The coffee was great as was the service. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing afternoon in a peaceful and picturesque location. We will definitely visit again, in the Spring, as I imagine the garden will be even more spectacular.
