Tarndwarncoort (colloquially known as 'Tandie') is a working property proud of its heritage as a wool producer and its historic stone homestead. It dates its establishment in the Western District to 1840.Accommodation is available (see Tandwarncoort's website for information). And day visitors are welcomed on weekends and some school and public holidays (again, check the website). The property is a shortish drive from the township of Birregurra ('Birre'). Public transport is not an option, but if you don't have your own car you might be able to arrange for a taxi or a ride with a local.Visitors can check out the café and farm-gate store, guided tours of the property, the Ciderhouse Gallery (which has changing exhibits by photographers, painters etc), and the Woolshop (selling yarns dyed in a vast range of colours, along with craft items). The Woolshop also sells online. Wool-related craft workshops are run once in a while (felting, tapestry weaving), and there are school holiday activities and special events on occasions such as Mothers Day and Fathers Day.I visited at Easter when a number of artists and craftspeople in and around Birregurra opened their studios and demonstrated their skills.
