Seville Hill Winery is an amazing beautiful place not just for people who love wine. They have a great low key restaurant and regular Jazz on Sunday afternoon to provide entertainment under an amazing tree with views to the ranges. Check out their website for opening hours and entertainment.
Just off the highway, along a dirt track that ran around the vineyard before getting to the Cellar Door! Must be a ploy to get you tasting more and believe me it worked. The Temparillo was to die for and the reserve shiraz beyond words! A definite revisit required!
We have visited Seville Hill a number of times for wine tasting and purchasing. Normally there is just a cellar door and the environment is low key, consisting of a tasting area on the side of the shed (i.e. there is no restaurant and not hoards of people). It was the wines that kept us coming back - the whole range is divine – from the Rose, Sav Blanc, to the Merlot (that we normally would not like), Shiraz, the Cherry liqueur - the list goes on! Recently we took our friends who were visiting from Cairns to the Sunday jazz and lunch and we had the best time. Our friends were so impressed with the hosts, who despite being busy took the time to greet us and conduct an informative and fun tasting. We sat in the shed among the wine barrels and ate beautiful food while listening to the jazz band. (They do try to set-up on the lawn outside but it was too windy on this day so we moved inside). Overall the service is great, the wines excellent and when food is available; it is fresh, tasty and good value for money. We love the place and will continue to visit and purchase the wines from Seville Hill. Our friends left raving about the place and how friendly and lovely the people were. Recommend checking on their website for upcoming events. We’ll be back!
Recently we spent the day on a Yarra Valley wine tour, the second vineyard/cellar door we visited was the Seville Hill Winery. The host and winemaker was renovating either the bathroom or the kitchen in his home when we arrived in the pouring rain. He left his renos and came up and opened up for us. John the winemaker spent the next hour fascinating us with his wines and knowledge. Nothing was too much trouble, we sampled his home made crushed olives, tasted all his wines which were absolutely fabulous and I think I could safely say we all wanted to stay and let him prepare our lunch and drink his wines, Unfortunately we had to move on. It was the highlight of the tour it was such a great way to find out about the wines from the actual winemaker and then know how to sample each wine to get the best possible taste from the wine. We came away armed not only with knowledge, but wine, cheeses (yes he makes them too) crushed olives, photos of his amazing camellia bushes and a pleasant warmth from the best port I think I have ever tasted. Kudos to the Seville Hill Winery and the winemaker John for a fantastic interlude. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this winery.
A great place for Sunday lunch overlooking the Yarra Valley. Listening to jazz music& drinking a non sweet but lots of berry flavours in the Rose.
I had a lovely lunch and a great welcome from Betty the red heeler. The service was very good and food delicious.
Friendly cellar door, gorgeous wines with the vintage port and cherry liqueur the highlights. Graceful old trees dot the property and a platform offers stunning views.
This operation is very welcoming and very unpretentious, but the winemaking is truly good and truly original. I liked every wine offered, but my favorite examples are the pinot noir (10% of the juice is drawn off, resulting in a deeply colored, very intensely flavored and aromatic wine), the late harvest sauvignon blanc (all the sweetness you could want, and a citrus finish), and most original of all, the cherry liqueur (actually a fortified cherry wine, with none of a liqueur's heaviness--just pure fruity pleasure). I was sorry I could get only four bottles in my suitcase to bring home to the US.
Great range of wines. If your into your red's, definitly worth giving this place a visit. The port is excellent too!
This winery is easy to miss on the way into Seville or travelling to Warburton. We discovered it about 3 years ago, after Whispering Hill which is on the same road. The wines are good and the prices reasonable. Very good discounts available on dozens. We love their Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The owners are very welcoming and love to show off their wines.
I absolutely loved my visit to Seville Hill Winery. As only a wine dabbler (while my partner is very much a wine enthusiast), I didn't know much about wine and just knew I didn't like red wine. The owner set out to find out what exactly I didn't like about red wine and managed to find a variety that I didn't mind too much - Tempranillo. He also taught me how to drink wine properly... :) Very good variety of red and white wines. The vintage port is also a must try!
John and Josie, the owners of Seville Hill are so lovely and welcoming!I visited the winery recently with a group of friends on a Summer Jazz Sunday. Sitting under the beautiful trees overlooking an outside stage with the band playing was just lovely. We took a picnic blanket and relaxed on the grass whilst enjoying a glass of wine- just devine. Would highly recommend the Rose and Tempranillo! Will return again often
Wonderful staff. Very knowledgable about the wines on offer.
We visited on Saturday and Josie was so welcoming and knowledgable. Lovely family owned small winery with great wines. Excellent port!!!
