There are many paintings I will remember from this small museum- but mostly the huge Lautrec and the amazing Turner. There are small masterpieces all over, from well known artists - and the temporary show - Schnabel when I was there, was not too bad. Its not well kept - no store or general lobby or any museum feel in many public areas - but you are there for the art, and there are so many wonderful pieces in this collection. Be careful as you exit, since there are some strange characters always hovering around the museum on Paulista. The art and antique market that is there some of the time is fun too.

I visited the Museum last week. I was surprised to see an extraordinary temporal collection of paintings (Van Gogh, Picasso, Degas, Manet, Monet, Greco,...) Great really. Nevertheless:1. the selection of masterpieces was astonishing but apparently unrelated to the uneducated guest. You need to offer a guiding story to the visitor. Why have we selected those and how are they related (no brochures,...)2. Lighting: this is really annoying. The placing of the ilumination damaged the correct observation of the paintings. Reflections, blind points,...Hope you take a look to this. You have an amazing place there

Very nice museum in Sao Paulo. You will find pieces of van Gogh, Matisse, Picasso and so on. But, I think the one that impressed me most is Os Retirantes - Candido Portinari.

It's work in progress as they were doing some transition. Unless you are a huge arts fan, may not want to spend time there.

A quite impressive collection for a not so big museum. It has ups and downs due to financial and adminsitrative issues but it is in a very good phase now.

Classic and beautiful, with important art names in its colection. Its a must go! Easy to get there by the subway or bus.

Some part of the building is refurbished or something like this, maybe this is why the entrance was free... This aspect wasn't clear to me. But than, the experience was great. Masterpieces were gathered under some interesting themes like, "From detail to the lack of detail" and others. With plenty of explanations also in English it made the visit not only a delight but also an eye opening experience for profans in painting and painting history, like me. I can't remember another similar display in past visits to museums. I just remember more or less anoying displays in chronological order. After this experience at MASP I think that this is the model all pinacotecas should use in order to make museums friendlier for us the 21st century people.

Even it is considered a "postcard" of Sao Paulo, the architecture is not that fascinating. But the galeries are nice and cheap price.

The buildng is of course famous for its angular design, colour and cantilevered spaces. The paintings are well-selected to take you through a few centuries of world-class art. One of my party of friends described the museum as a "didactic experience". The nice thing is that there are not too many pictures from each important period: you have a few Van Goghs and Modiglianis for example, and some lovely Renoirs which have probably never been viewed before outside Brazil. Entry costs about 15 reais (less for seniors). Well worth it. Don´t forget to pick up the super catalogue in the bookshop, published by Folha de Sáo Paulo newspaper (only 15 reais).

This museum was one of the most impressive ones I have ever been to. The collection is not massive in qty but overwhelming in quality. I loved every bit in particular the impressionist and the Hironimus Bosch painting. Great great great

This 1960s gem stands uncompromisingly as a rectangle on four struts, a great design and a great space for a great collection. We saw three fabulous exhibitions. One tracing the history of 'detail' in painting with a wealth of masters from the early renaissance to the modern. When I say it includes Rembrandt, Picasso, Degas I am understating it by a long way. These are first class master works. An exhibition on Paris in the 19th century also included Lautrec, one of my particular favourites and many others. World class.

Never been to a museum with an empty space on the ground floor. When the local explained, than I understood why. Not so many exhibit. But enough to kill some time in there.

Masp is a must see site for every foreigner visiting Brazil. Located next to Trianon-Masp subway station (3,50 BRL per person) this museum encloses several important artworks of Brazilian and foreigner painters. Actually it is holding an exhibit on French art (XIX and XX centuries) and other on Goddesses and Madonnas, related to religious motives over time. The entrance is free on Tuesdays reason by which you will be able to see a long line formed near the entrance, other days it costs 25 BRL, being the most expensive museum in the city. Below the museum there is a large empty space known as Vão Livre (vawn leevre) where an antiquity fair takes place on Sundays.

Centrally located, MASP is well worth the visit. The art collection is quite impressive & I was thrilled by the way the galleries on the 2nd floor are arranged- with interior windows offering peeks into other galleries. It works! It's an enriching & air conditioned escape from a busy city, too!

In my opinion it is the best museum in São Paulo. It. has a great permanent collection with renowed artists such as Van Gogh, Portinari, etc.
