Located in the down town area, probably it is the best theater in Brazil. It’s a place where people can appreciate performances of dance, opera and symphony.

The theatre by itself is a great place to visit, its acustic was excellent,, I wen to see a performance ,,Maryln en branco et preto,, very good.

I visited only the exterior. It's OK, but if you have better things to do in Brazil, like visiting Paraty or Iguazu Falls, you don't have to visit Theatro Municipal.

We went to a show and we were impressed by the beautifully restored building. A building like this you would expect to find in Europe not in Brazil. There are guided tours every day if you just want to see the building but it's worth going to a concert. Most concerts have a few spare tickets which you can buy just before the performance. There is usually a concert on Sunday morning at 11am. Well worth a visit!!!

Many South American theatres were built on European models. The Opera Garnier in Paris inspired the construction of this particular theatre (like the ones in Rio or Buenos Aires). The grand staircase looks fabulous. Unfortunately, I was not able at the time to visit the interior. However, I did have a quick look at the foyer and went to the café. This is an outstanding turn-of-the century décor with Art Nouveau stained-glass windows. Just a nice alternative for coffee or lunch while in town

Besides the cultural importance, with good and not expensive presentations, you can go during the day for a good lunch (with a special salad menu) and for a coffee. A good place to take a meting.

I've been to many opera houses and theatres around the world, this is one of the top 25! Its arquitecture tooks its inspiration from Paris Opera House, the outside is incredible and inside it is just awesome! The acoustics is amazing and during the week one can purchase tickets for really small prices. The area isn´t the best, and the fountains outside were recently turned off which is a huge "no", but still worth a visit!

Built between 1898 and 2011, this is a beautiful performance venue. The acoustics were good, but the classic chairs in the "frise" sections were terribly uncomfortable. Nonetheless, it is still worth a visit. Hopefully, the chairs will be changed in the near future.

I have been really lucky to find a last minute ticket for the last sunday night performance of Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci. Excellent show, very good acoustic and, first of all, the most beautiful Opera House I've seen until now. I learned that it can be visited (guided tours in english) for free in the day time, at specific hours. It's worth it, if you have the necessary time!

It has been completely restored recently, with a truly effort to take it to its former glory. Is neo baroque, with amazng details, combining shape, and colour of materials.

I love going to Theatro municipal. Often there are great performances, and the theatre is absolutely beautiful. Enjoy an opera... a concert... or a show... but do make sure you go.

Opera, concerts, ballet are the menu. The external architecture andd the interior decoration are also na attraction of this place. Na excelente restaurant as well.

worth visiting! the place is very good for picture taking for remembrance. however, the place is quite scary too as there seems to be many bad guys around so be very extra careful

The building is very nice as expected for the main theatre in the city, worth visiting and taking pictures... Such a pity the area is so dodgy with lots of homeless people sleeping on the street, not to mention the intimidating men trying to sell something (i guess). Still a good experience... Try to avoid going on your own!

It is a great place for those who love classical music or those who just want to visit São Paulo's downtown.
