Although over shadow by the famous Praia do Forte, Imbassai beach is definitely a nicer beach. In fact it's one of our family favour beach in the area. The beach is much quieter and the river pool is very safe for young children. We were sitting on the water to eat, drinks and relax until the sunset appeared. Try the lobster from the beach restaurant - reasonable and tasty.

Beautiful, blue color, very fine sand. Lots of waves, though. And I hate the fact that they allow horses on the beach.

Compared to the crowded and small beach in Praia do Forte this beach is amazing and very relaxing. Stay in the pousada da luar for example and you wake up with the first sunbeams and a great view and sounds of the ocean. Go for a horse ride f.e. Shopping and eating is better in Praia d. Forte, but to relax, stay in Imbassai!

A short walk away from where the river meets the sea, and you can have the beach all by yourself. Natural pools whwn low water. Nice resturants.

I just love this beach, it's family type place full of peace, water is always in a good temperature not too cold or too hot. Too bad is that there aren't many places beside the beach to purchase drinks or ice cream etc, but it's better like this cuz it makes the place more quiet.

It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Bahia. Take the "jangada" to the beach, instead of go there walking. Go to where the river's water encounters the sea's water. It is amazing

Take the "jangada", a simple kind of boat, from the city to the beach. It costs 2,5 reais per person. At the beach, take a walk to the right, where the river encounters the ocean. You can swimm there and appreciate the beautiful view.

A great place to enjoy nature, food and family. The river meets the sea and we can enjoy the meeting of the waters over a nice cold beer!

This beach is simply amazing! We can find the end of the river meeting the sea with white and shining sand. Just perfect!

On the south of the mouth of the river, past the flat part where soccer can be played, there are excellent rock formations with small fish pools and a long pristine beach al the way down to the Ibirostar resort. To the north of the mouth there are the confusion of barracas that is usual for Bahian beaches extending the first 500 meters or so, where it gives way to clean and semi deserted beach past the palladium resort and the Reserva de Imbassai all the way to Diogo de Santo Antonio where there are a few more primitive barracas and a small point with rocks and some snorkeling at low tide. From there it is clear all the way to the resorts at Costa de Sauipe.Except for the short extent of beach dune on the river side and the imbassai barracas it is a gorgeous beach. The local community is working hard to make it a nice place. First they have to keep the community beach really clean to maintain its attractiveness. The biking paths and walking paths are a major plus giving great access to the town and beach no matter where you stay.During the summer you can expect to see new turtle nests along your beach walk almost each day. When high tide and sunset coincide you may see turtles in the waves waiting for their chance to come ashore to dig their nests and lay eggs.During the day on the ebb tide long walks are possible with ease all the way to Diogo and back. Wildlife protected in the Resserva de Imbassai is plentiful keep your eyes open for sea birds , raptors, and monkeys chameleons + lizards as well as great variety of butterflies the occasional fox and snake. As the tide ebbs lots of swimming and wading pools emerge, just fabulous for bathing relaxation, there is a ship wreck roughly 1/3 of the way to diogo that is completely hidden at high tide but completely exposed at low tide. There were not as many surfers as I had expected but the waves seem to me at least to be as good as anywhere else on the coast. The swimming is not as protected as it is at Guarajuba and Praia do Forte and life guards are not numerous especially during off season so keep a close eye on your children and believe it when a red flag warning is flying. For retired people like me, the solitude of the long beach the steady roar of the sea, the wildlife and nature cannot be beaten. Enjoy and protect it

My family and I just love this beach and we have been here many times. When the kids are small, the river was the big thing. When older they enjoy the forcefull waves with pleasure.Take a walk north at low tide, after crossing the river you we get to some rocks. Her you can see small fish trapped in pockets with water. Also great for bathing and collecting shells. Still my small daughters (7 years) favourite place.Go south on the beautifull beach all the way to Diogo (Santo Antonio). You can either walk or run (mind the heat and the sun). At low tide the sand gets very hand and it is just PERFECT for barefooted running. This is my hands down world wide favourite running track - Imbassai to Diogo and back makes about 12km.Many great barraccas - and the best one is Barraca do Baixinho. Go there and enjoy the perfect food and superior service. Send my greetings to owner Baixinho and head waiter Mario (you cant miss him). Just say hello from the Danish guy.I am going back in a week and I am looking forward to see how the new Barracas are proceeding. All Barracas will be removed from the river.
