In my opinion, one of the most beautiful places I've seen in Rio de Janeiro. Many bikes to rent and a beautiful path that surrounds the lagoon. Don't miss this view or you'll regret!
I love the lake! It sits in a very nice area of Rio near Ipanema beach and it is easy to get to and you might see it going to many site seeings in Rio because the main traffic flows through one side to go to the beaches. The lake is a great place to walk in the early evening and perhaps exercise or hold hands appreciating the view. There are some nice restaurants on the side further from the beach. Expensive but excellent food. The paddle boats can be rented, so it is nice for children and adults. I felt safe and comfortable walking around during the day, but not so sure I would walk around at night unless there were more people with me.
This is an amazing place to visit. The view is fantastic and you have a place to work out. Here you can run around the lake, cycle, jogging, skate, or go in a paddle boat. All these activities are done mainly on Sundays. The view is very beautiful all around it and very different from each one. One of its sides is very close to the Ipanema beach. The surroundings are amazing. You gonna love it.
It is a batufiul lagon, located in the heart of the richest region in Rio, surrounde by the Ioanema, Leblon, Lagoa, Jardim Botanico and Gávea neighborhoods. Around it threre is a bycikce and running trail, many open spacesand sport courts, including a bowl for skaters and a dog park. Also, there are many restaurants amd food sellers nearby. However, do be careful because robberies at quite common and they are not afraid to shoot or stab theri victims.
We were lucky enough to be there in December when the Christmas tree was up - we went of an evening to see it lit up, it changed colour - was very pretty - worth a look
One of the most beautiful views of Rio and nice for outdoor activities such as cycling, jogging, skating etc, though the water is not clean, wich is a pitty.Definetely a must-go in Rio.
If you like to practice outdoor sports, the lagoon offers a great environment. You can ride your bike for a round the lake ride of 7 Km; there are also skateboard pools and tennis courts among other attractions. But maybe the nest one is to watch the sundown in the afternoon. In addition to sports, there are restaurants all around the lagoon, movie theaters and gardens where you can enjoy the sight, the people or simply a picnic.
The views are nice and plenty of locals come here for a walk, ride a bicycle or mind dogs. There are some restaurants and condos overlooking the lake. The water is dirty and smelly so swimming is not advisable, at least not for me and my family.
I walked around this on separate days during my stay in Rio. Sad to see people throw their trash on the side of what could be a beautiful lake. There are trash cans everywhere in the city and not very many people know how to use them.
The "Lagoon", or the "Lake", as you wish, is a must-see attraction in Rio. Either for a jogging (of 7,5 kilometers is the complete distance) or to watch the sunset, the Lagoon has always been part of any Carioca life. This weekend we decided me and my girlfriend decided to go for a picnic. The colours of the sun towards the Lagoon and the mood of the place is just awesome! If in Rio, do not miss it.
I was disappointed in this considering some of the reviews. It is a large lake, a short distance inland from Ipanema. There is a walkway around the lake, shared with cyclists and skaters. For a lot of it the road traffic is very close and the path is not very wide so its not really a relaxing walk. There are some bars and restaurants at the lake side but during the day when we were there they were empty. There are some small boats for hire at tourist prices. If you want to relax the nearby Jardim Botanico is much better, and if you want scenery there are lots of better places.
Just a lake with a cycling/walking trail around it. It looks like its more for the "cariocas" that live around it to enjoy, then for tourists. few nice bars, we found.
Rodrigo de Freitas lake is a good place for some relaxing time in Rio de Janeiro. You will have a nice view and some trees to sit under it. It is a good option to go while you wait for your time to go up in the Christ during high season (e.g. I bought the tickets in counter for Christ at 10:00AM and my turn was only at 3:30PM, we used this time to visit this lake then.)
Definitely a must see in Rio! Take the 4km jog around the lake to experience life as a citizen of Rio. The views are beautiful. It was so peaceful to have such a big lake in the urban center. Bravo urban planners, bravo!
Great place to enjoy a sunny day. You can for sure enjoy your self renting a bike, run, doing a picnic or a simple walking. It is possible to see the christ and some peaks from there which makes the experience amazing. There are a lot of places to eat within a walikng distance. It is also possible to wakeboard in the lake if you are into more rad experiences.
