I have heard about Cochamó for some years, and this summer (southern hemisphere) I had the opportunity to go there. The valley is absolutely fantastic. I imagine Yosemite centuries ago.Places for camping and a small "refugio" are at three hours walking. There are some horses for those who does´t want to walk and for backpacks. No option for buying food there!Trails are very tough, requiring some efforts for someone not well prepared. But views from up the rocks are absolutely fantastic. This is really a must for those who enjoy nature in its virgin status.

I wished I had done a bit more homework about the hikes before heading off to Cochamo. Fortunately we were not caught with heavy rains and knee-deep mud, but the hikes were too foresty for me with a lot of slogging over roots and not the views I had hoped for.

We did not get to take the Arcoiris hike to the overlook because of the rain. However, we learned that this is a pretty hairy hike according to fellow travelers at the refuge.

A fantastic place for trekking, climbing and horse riding. And just a great place to hang out.It's well worth the 6 hour walk in to be surrounded by amazing granite walls and enough walking and climbing options to keep some people there for the whole summer.Go before everyone else does!

Yosemite Valley of the south. I prefer Valle Cochamo. Big granite walls and beautiful forest.

I recently traveled through Chile using Fodor's guidebook. Cochamo Valley is the Yosemite of Chile, an amazing place, and surprisingly not in your book. We got convincing stories from other travelers about Cochamo. We researched and found: (great information) website cochamocom, the latest version of Lonely Planet Chile and TripAdvisor. All this lead us to hike into the valley and stay for a week at the wonderful Refugio Cochamo. The couple and their son built the lodge and have run it for eight years. Accommodation great, tasty organic whole wheat bread and homegrown veggies and very friendly. This valley is breathtaking: hikes, waterfalls, thousand meter walls and very old trees. Check it out. It's a don't miss destination.Anyway, I think this is super important destination and environmentally fragile. Thus I hope no road ever gets constructed in to it. Thanks to the Refugio Cochamó for all their efforts, trail building, rock climbing routes and unmistakeable passion for the area.

Conocí el pueblo de Cochamó este verano (2015) muy hermoso, me encantó. Me hospedé en el pueblo, Después fui a conocer La Juntas, fui por el día, fue demasiado, 24 kilometros, ida y vuelta. Camino plano y bosque bien tupido, asi que no da calor. Para la próxima me quedaré a acampar, si no se cuenta con carpas, también hay refugios.

Un lugar de ensueño, rodeado de altas montañas y naturaleza. Para llegar, se debe realizar un trekking de aproximadamente 4 horas. Es en plano, por lo que no se requiere tener un muy buen estado físico. Hay 4 campings para elegir, y muchos senderos para realizar caminatas. Ideal para escaladores también.

Para los que gustan del trekking, por lugares aislados, recomiendo muchísimo el cruce de Argentina a Chile por el paso de Leon, al sur de Bariloche, y llegar a Cochamó. Imperdible. Prestar atención a que no sea una época de lluvia.

Esta zona de Chile aun está poco explorada y se conoce poco... una forma de verla es por el camino que va desde Ensenada y pasa por Rio Puelo hasta el seno de Reloncaví. Se verán hermosos paisajes y pequeños pueblos. Calcular la bencina antes de salir. También hay lagos y ríos para pescar o algunos senderos que recorrer.

El título lo dice todo, esta vez conocimos la base del cerro trinidad y una laguna que está próxima a este lugar. Importante destacar que el bus que antes llegaba hasta el inicio del camino de tierra ahora llega hasta el inicio del sendero de trekking (desde Puerto Montt cobra 4 mil pesos).

Hermosos paisajes, con rio, bosques, quebradas, mucho verde y aire abrazador, tener en cuenta que aun esta en desarrollo el camino, tiene varios km de mucha piedra y polvo, pero vale la pena recorrerlo y visitar lo místico del paisaje.

Visitar o Vale do Cochamo é uma experiencia inesquecível. A visão dos cerros de granito que rodeia o vale e o rio que corre ao longo da trilha de aceso nos faz sentir a imponente presença e força da natureza

Hermoso e inspirador lugar.Todavía están en desarrollo las zonas de camping, faltan mejores señalizaciones y mapas del lugar. Pero va bien encaminado.La panorámica del lugar es fantástica. El único punto negativo son los turistas que van a carretiar y a hacer fiestas hasta altas horas de la madrugada mientras otros tratan de descansar para salir a explorar al día siguiente. El resto, un lujo.

De una belleza natural increíble, con unos paisajes maravillosos. Lo único malo es el camino, pero lo demás es único y místico.
