If you're going near Pula or Medulin or any where in Istra you must visit Premantura and Kamenjak. In Premantura are lots of camps and they are great, so close to the beach. A little further from Premantura is Kamenjak, it's national park so if you're going there by car or motorcycle you will need to pay some 'entrance' and you will get free map of Kamenjak and garbage bag. There are so many beaches you can visit. Kamenjak it's great for walking and cycling.
It's hard to find a place like this: a park when nature shows its whole beauty and where you can find several different beaches to sunbathe, have a bath or just feel the nature. It's very crowded - in August I may say overcrowded - but it's so big that you can find your own place to stay and to relax. Don't forget a break at Safari bar where you can drink some fresh cocktails and eat cheap food while relaxing in a place that is unique. Go there and spend your day in a wonderful context. I would suggest you to go early in the morning to be the owners of the park and to stay there until the sunset. Amazing place!
i was in Kamenjak in August. This place is great for people who like pure nature. This is national park and entrance cost 24 kuna for a car. You can get were by bike as well. The road is dirt and dusty. There are many small different beaches which you can visit. Along the roads there are signpost with the name of beaches. Althought we got small booklet about Kamenjak N. P. there was not any discriptions of beaches this that me lacked ( for exemple this beach is covered with stones, this beach is good for children etc). Finally we got to the place which was situated totaly on the end (south) of K.N.P. - Beach with Safari bar. The beach was covered with stones blocks with big crack so you have to walk very carefully - dont forget about beach shoes . The landscape is great. Althoght there were a lot of people the beach was not crowded. Beach was efficiency wide and long. The problem was with swiming in the water for my the youngest son who is 7. The bottom was very rocky and the waves were strong. It was dengerous for children becouse waves could pushed them on the rock. Fortunatelly we find the place with with small bay created by rocks. This place is on the right side from the entrace on the beach, about 200m. Perfect place! Children played in the shallow water and the waves stoped on the barier of rocks. It made air foam like in jacuzi. On the rock you can find a lot of small crabs. I was snoorking with my older son. The view was great becouse the water was very transparently. You can see everything on the distance more that 10m. And fishes were not scared. Fishes did not escaped, you could aproched to them on distance less that 1m. Snoorking there, is great experience I recomend. So generaly on this beach hard to find place for swimming for children but it is possible. above the beach is the bar, toilets and totally on the top there are woody tower. The view from tower is on the see and the beach. I recomend this place for the lover of nature
It is just a (not so hidden anymore) jewel in Istra. Great for either walking or cycling around (we are coming there for cycling). You can find more "crowded" or totally secluded beaches. Everybody can find his perfect place, until you like beautiful wild nature, see, sun, "see smell"...
Enjoy pure nature in sunshine. Drive or take your bike. It is beautiful, pure nature. Very suitable for a peaceful rest.Having beach shoes is very useful. Not for small children. Therefore very quiet! :)Always want to go back!
This place is just amazing. You can literally do whatever you feel like, snorkelling, sunbathing, windsurfing, chilling at bar...Entrance fee are cheap and you can visit different beaches. Definitely worth a trip!
Awesome place to drive in and spend all day with family. Nice views, hard but beautiful beaches and great places for snorkeling
We went to kamenjak by foot, the main road is not perfect to walk but by far sufficient, however there is also a little walkway near the coastline that is absolutely astonishing! The little bays everywhere are refreshing and if you go to the southern end of the peninsula you will find the safari bar, a relaxing place in the green. If you seek some thrill there is also a great cliff diving spot near the safari bar. This place is a must see!
It's a wonderful place. You can enter in the park by foot, car or bike. I recommend bike for you to explore everything! It's really really beautiful and has big cliffs to jump. You have enough space to have some privacy and to do nude beach. It has pretty and funny bars to have a meal, especially with kids. But with a lot of people and long waiting line.I think they should invest in directions in the road! It's easy to get lost here.
So nice to be on the beach where nature is as suposed to be - untouchable. This is end of peninsula Istria and it's worthet to visit it.
We had one night in Pula, we arrived here at lunch time. After to rest, we asked in our hotel about nearby beaches to go with our daughter, so after 30 minutes more or less by car we reached the Kamenjak Park. You should pay 5 euros to enter. Driving your car you can choose a beach to the right or left side, we decided for one that was not full of persons. The beaches are ok but are not so impressive like in the pictures. But if you are going with children you will find quiet, transparent and warm waters, even something of sand down water. We made a little trekking till the end of the park, you are not able to do it with car, just by foot. And the view from the top its great. Caution about the route in the park because it has not been asphalted.
If you are in Istria peninsula I suggest you to come here for a one or hald-day trip. It's very simple to reach it, from north is maximum 1,5 hrs.Beauty gulfs, forests, rich flora and fauna. Main problem is that after the gate there are only gravel roads, which guarantees that everyone who are walking or biking will bath in dust. By car is ok, a lot of parking places, but in the evening there is a comlpete traffic jam.Crystal clear water, long coasts, you can find places where only you'll be and you can find places with full of people too.
I heard about this place from my dear friends in Croatia cause one of the beaches is named Debeljak. Surely, this is one of the most beautiful sights in the Europe!!! Check out the Safari Bar and the beach that wears my surname, Debeljak!!!
We went for a day trip to Kap Kamenjak Natural Park and we were not disappointed. The scenery was stunning and the sea was beautiful, blue and wild. We drove to the end of the peninsula, where we , after a fairly difficult walk with my mother, who doesn't walk very well, sat on the rocks and enjoyed the sunshine. My children loved snorkeling in the sea and I enjoyed the beautiful views. Some people swam into the caves, but the sea was quite wild. It was busy, but we saw some beautiful coves off the beaten track. Impossible for my mother to reach them though. We the had a drink and a bite to eat at the Safari Bar! A sight not to be missed. A bar set into the reeds and the rocks, a playground with swings and ropes for young and the young at heart within, tables hidden in the shrubbery, some with stunning views, good food at reasonable prices and quite a safari to bring them back to your place. It has to be seen to be believed. A great day.Few downsides: toilets not great, dusty, bumpy road to get there, sea is quite choppy, lots of rocks, so probably not great for non swimmersThe parking costs 25 kuna......a bargain
Kamenjak National Park was one of the highlights from our wonderful trip to Croatia during our 3 week road trip across 5 countries (See www.selimfamily.wordpress.com for more details on other places). One of the best places we have snorkelled, saw lots of fish, even a turtle, not as crowded as other areas in Croatia, awesome Safari Bar, loved the food, the price, the atmosphere, was lovely to see the lack of hotels and other such development. Can easily spend the whole day here, very children friendly, will definitely be back!!
