Stara Baska is quite touristy in the heart of summer It is a village however parking was hard to find. The beach is very nice safe clear waters and the drive there is absolutely stunning.
As I was looking for the beach in Stara Baska I looked down from the road and saw that some people were laying on a small but beautyfull beach in a bay. I went looking for the road to go there, but I discovered there is none. You have to park the car by the road and hop over the safetyguard and go down a rocky and slippery path to go to this perfect remote beach. Parasols and sunbeds are available, but no one to pay them... :) For me and my family this was really nice to go to and the relaxed atmosphere this beach was remarkable.
Stara Baska is truly a must see beach while on Krk with a variety of beaches to choose from and a far cry from the crazy full beaches of the bigger, more modern Baska. Crystal clear water, stunning cliffs and did I mention no crowds? :)
This is a very beautiful beach with small pebbles and a caffe where you can find the minimum required to keep you refreshed during a hot day. The water is cristal clear and climbing on the hill found on one side of the beach offers beautiful views over it !
Amazing scenario, driving there the views are incredible and it can just get better when you finally go on the beaches.
It is not simple to get to the beach, but that's why it is so special. A lonely place, with only one caffe that is not to loud. Water is cristally clear, the beach is sandy and clean.
Stara Baska is still not so crowded than other coastal towns, that is why I liked it very much.We found parking place for free, over the marina,by the restaurant on the "hill".From there we had few hundred meters to the beach,it is really close. The closest beach was from stones, it is more comfortable if you take something to put under your towel. For aditional fee they are offering umbrellas and chairs. There are few beaches, some more crowded, others less, but they are all very nice and natural.
Stara Baska is not a touristic attraction..it is a village, at the end of the road, where you can find your peace. Very quiet with no bars or stores, Stara Baska is a place for those seeking wild beaches, clear waters and scuba diving. Not to mention that the drive there is absolutely stunning. Highly recommend it for a relaxing vacation!!!
Stara Baska is a very peaceful and romantic place at the edge of Krk island. The beaches of the village are nice but it is definitely worth the detour of 1km south where we found the best ones.. no noise, no bars, just the white stone cliffs and the transparent waters of the Adriatic. We highly recommend Pension Nadia with its beautiful views over the bay and very friendly staff.1st time in Croatia.. 2nd time we'll surely pass there again.
Stara Baška lies on the South West part of the island KRK. 17 km from the City of Krk and 10 km from Punat. Because of it's position it is a quite place even in the highest season. Stara Baška has pebble beaches and clear blue water. Unspoilt nature and mesmerizing view. Near the beach there is only camp, one market and a beach bar. Many cars are parked on the street (above the beach) and the people walk down the cliffs to reach deserted beaches.(Check Google earth for the terrain!). The parking near the main beach is free from this season! 2mins walk. :)
Croatia is known for its perfectly clear sea. This is not an exception. Not only the beach, also surroundings are beautiful. I suggest taking more than a towel with you. Rocks are quiet big to lie on (especially on the left side of the beach). If you want privacy, climb the hill on the right. There are few other small beaches. We also met sheep hiding under the trees in the shadow!
Stara Baska is a very small resort, even by Croatian standards. The beach is not crowded at all. If you are well equipped for rocky beaches, you can easily find your "own" little bay where nobody bothers you. This is exactly my idea of Croatia. Of course, such a place comes with disadvantages: Roads are narrow, it is not easy to drive or to park your car. There are only 3 restuarants in the resort, with the typical menu: pizza, seafood and croatian specialties of grilled meats.
The beach down the road to Stara Baska from Punat is beautiful, with clear water and comfortable little pebbles. We spent the entire day there snorkeling, lounging and enjoying the sun. There is also a small restaurant/bar.The hike down and up from the beach is not too difficult, just a little slippery at first.
Krk is not big ( by Aussie standards) but too see all the beautiful little seaside towns you need a few days. We stayed in Krk but went to Baska with our Croatian friend. It is so lovely it's easy to see why Europeans flock here for summer. The bridge over to Krk is awesome.
The location of the village is at the dead end of a narrow road from Punat to the South, situated in a bay with a small harbor. We stayed 3 nights in the geasthouse "Mariana" which has although no aircon but rooms with beautiful view over the bay, enjoyed the sunset from the big balcony and ate always in the very good restaurant "Mariana" with a big terrace above the harbor. The owner Miko speeks Italian, German and English, the staff is friendly and the food excellent. (catch of the day, etc.)I can really recommend Stara Baska and Mariana to couples, who is not eager to high life but for quiet surrounding, small bays with rocks or pebbles.
