Thank you for your kind review. Glad you had the mussels - they are not always available - but you where lucky. Best regards Sigridur Margret
Thank you for our kind review. Glad you downloaded the Smart Guide. We would also like to let people know that we have made a free Smart Guide from Keflavik airport to Borgarnes. You can find Smart Guide North Atlantic at the App Store or Play Store. Look for the map of Iceland and zoom in on Keflavik Airport, then select the tour. You can also download the app at home and listen to it before you arrive. Simply choose manual instead of GPS mode.
Thank you for your kind review - Hope you enjoyed your stay in Borgarnes and hope to see you again. Best regards Sigríður Margrét
This is really worth the trip. It is out in the middle of nowhere as is everything outside of Reykjavik but so worth the experience. You learn so much about their history, their lives, and their housing. These people are so positive and creative and never waste anything. Their ingenuity is truly amazing. Look for Gucci bags made out of fish skins.
We decided to venture over to the town and saw the great reviews of this place. Figured it may be something different for us to check out. We were pleasantly surprised by how well done the tour is. Extremely well organized and coordinated. What a creative, fun way to showcase Icelandic history!!!
Great place to stop when visiting western iceland. The staff are AWESOME! Very friendly and helpful! We stopped just to ask for info and directions and ended up coming back to eat the next day just because of the great staff. Turns out the restaurant is AWESOME as well! Top notch place.
Thank you for your review. Yes many have said that The Settlement Centre is an ideal stop when passing Borgarnes - both on your way to the north or the south. Glad you tried our Lamb soup - it is traditional Icelandic.
Thank you for your kind review. We did try to sum up the most interesting parts of the Sagas for those are not familiar with it so we are glad that you enjoyed it.Best regards Sigridur Margret
Thank you for your very informative and friendly review. Our staff take great pride in helping visitors interested in the Saga with more detailed information. Talking about the shop - you are right a lot of our product comes from local people and not to be found elsewhere.Best regards Sigridur Margret
Thank you so much for your very positive review. We are specially grateful as it seems that you visited us in February last year, almost one year ago and you still remember the experience. But this is Iceland - you never forget it.
Go here if you can. Take a walk through the history exhibit and learn about how this country was settled, and then walk through the other side snd learn one of the Icelandic sagas. But, don't miss the restaurant! The food is spectacular!
Well presented & easily understood explanation of the local history of the area. Offers videos & live proformances. Gift shop full of local handicrafts.
We popped in here as the weather had taken a turn for the worse and enjoyed the experience - the tour takes about 60 mins with the first 30 dedicated to the settlement of Iceland and the 2nd half focussing on one of the saga tales . What really stood out though for us was the customer service as the staff made a huge effort advising us on other nearby attractions as well as providing directions - they even offered to phone ahead to see if one was open .
Thank you for your review - but I think that you are talking about the Herring Museum in Siglufjordur in north Iceland. The Settlement Center is in Borgarnes in West Iceland. The Herring museum is a wonderful museum that shows the importance of the herring to the economy of Iceland in the 20th century. It is the only museum in Iceland that has won the European museum award. It is a must see if you are travelling in the north.
The food here was really nice! Great menu and I really enjoyed my lobster main, the drink selection was nice and the waiter was very polite, would recommend to anyone staying in Borganes.
