Thank you for your feedback! We´re glad you enjoyed our vision of chocolate and met Mr. Zotter. Surely you got some insider info about the "Chocolate Shocker" too!
First of all ticket is too expensive (14,90€) but excellent advertising. You can taste cacao beans from different countries, a lot of spices, various of chocolate, mousses, etc. You can choose chocolate bar for hot drink. Chocolate everywhere :D
Felt like a kid in willy wonkers factory !Admittedly after half way through the tour I felt a little sick..butthats because I didnt listen!!!!Moderation when tasting...be aware! If youre a chockyholic like me then self control is difficult..Worth a visit?...oh yes...tremendous...educational...and certainly moneys worth of tasting!!Mr zotter..congratulations....on your success..Oh.and theaustrian friend I was with doesnt like chocolate. But he certainly does now...infact he spent 30 euros..theres the proof
Must visit! You can taste all the different kind of chocolate, bon bon, hot chocolate... Perfect for kids and adults as well. :)
You simply must do the tour of the chocolate factory. Wether you are a major chocolate fan or not. The tour starts with a fun movie and then you take your spoon and let the fun begin. You are taken on a journey of chocolate. You will taste a plethora of flavours and textures some great, some surprising and some you might not like at all, the speck flavoured chocolate I must admit was not a favourite of mine, the orange liqueur was amazing though. It is heaven for children and adults alike. Follow the chocolate binge by a walk through the farm and visit the graveyard of dead flavours. Highly recommend this.
Very intresting place, you can visit the factory and see the whole process of making chocolate, taste samples of chocolate. After visitin the factory, can see mr.Zotter property wiht a lot of domestic animals, they have a excellent restaurant where you can taste all food grown according to the highest ecological standard. The only negative is: too expensive ticket!
Take the self guided tour to find out what a great guy Mr. Zotter is. The world needs people like him.So interesting to find out about the story from the selection of beans to the finisched products.Just a little disapointed about the people taking the tour as the behaviour is slack. Whilst beeing told many times and also having signs everywhere NOT TO USE FINGERS directly, most people ignore this and use their fingers. Especially when they even not wash their hands after beeing to the toilet (mens). When I made a complaint it was just brushed off and the promised reply from some person which was on holidays at the time was never received.
I am extremely glad we decided to go here, we had the greatest time. Besides learning a bit about cocoa and how the chocolate is made, you'll eat much more chocolate than you ever thought you can. My favorite flavors are under the label "Mitzi Blue" - a must try, especially the "Rock & Roses" one!
The tour starts with a short film - about 20 min. It's not going to win at Cannes, but it is informative. From the mom & pop start on the family farm, to an organic 'bean to bar' operation with an 18 million Euro investment in the operations. Even if you are only mildly into chocolate, the business case is fascinating - over 400 kinds of chocolate made at the site, a product graveyard of ones that didn't make it, original artwork throughout and an organic farm (with what I think is an unfortunate name, "the zoo" --- typically, at "zoos", the animals aren't killed for food). There are headsets in multiple languages to guide you through 25+ steps of the tour - from beans, roasting, anti-bacterial cleansing, shelling (the shells are used in an on-site steam energy facility) and processing. Most steps have tasting stations. Take only small amounts if you want the full experience. I can eat a lot of chocolate and even I couldn't sample everything offered. Buying decisions in the store are difficult too. Use the notebook provided to write down the flavours you like best as you go. Not everything is translated, so some flavours you just have to decide whether you like them or not, and then look them up later. There are savoury/spicy flavours - chilli, cardamom, curry. There are fruity flavours - mango, banana, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, passion fruit. There are coffee flavours. Nougats. Caramels. Different intensities - white, milk, dark (all percentages). Chocolate drinks. Chocolate shots. Likely not good to go if you have nut allergies.
If you are within 50km of this place, it's a MUST SEE. We went back a 2nd time two days later.More chocolate to taste than you can possibly taste.Lovely environment.Kids are in heaven here, absolute heaven.
Whenever you are close to Feldbach, don't miss the Zotter factory (and later also the raptors on the Riegersburg). It gives you a very good insight of where the cocoa comes from and you can taste, taste, taste. We met the owner by chance and he is a really nice guy and passionate about what he is doing. Plan enough time as they now also have a huge garden with animals, herbs, a restaurant and space to relax and enjoy the nature. Book via the internet beforehand to save time.
Excellent experience. The tour starts with video introduction in the company business and the art of chocolate making. Than guests are invited to stroll around the factory and taste various products. Tasting is worth every Euro paid for the ticket. We were seduced to over spent in the shop, however couple of days after the experience when all the chocolate have been eaten, I do not regret.
What can I say?? This place is so much better than Cadbury world!! I loved the introduction video and the tour is great as you left to walk around by yourself and eat as much chocolate as you want.
This has to be one of the best tours/ experiences I've experienced. I have a huge sweet tooth and would recommend this to anyone who has one too. The tour was of very good value- you could try as much chocolate as you liked and let me tell you there is A LOT! You start the tour with an informative video and then get to try Zotter's chocolate in all different forms from the beans to hot chocolate to chocolate covered cherries (and so much more!!!). My tip is to not eat too much chocolate in the beginning or else you'll be too full to eat all the goodies at the end! After eating the chocolate and doing the tour you are able to go lay in hammocks to relax while listening to classical music. I would no doubt recommend this tour. Amazing!
We visited this chocolate factory with a group on our day trip to Graz. After spending some quality time in lovely Graz we were ready to fully immerse ourselves into some fine chocolate. Btw there's a shop at the end of the visit/tour and I must say their chocolate isn't on the cheap side. We paid 11 euros for entrance and you get a ceramic spoon (actually I'm not sure if you have to give it back at the end of the tour but I kept mine as a souvenir) for tasting chocolate in its different stages of production (from raw cocoa beans to the finished product) and different types of chocolate. Firstly, you watch a short film /presentation about the factory/brand and their philosophy and the chocolate production in general. Then you go around the factory and see different machines for producing chocolate all the while tasting the chocolate with your spoon. Do not try the cocoa beans at the beginning cause they are absolutely bitter and disgusting!I fancy milk chocolate, I must admit that I find real dark chocolate a bit too much (anything that's over 60, 70% of cocoa). So, you can try different normal tastes and some crazy ones too. Near the end of the visit, there's a sort of a bar, and you get your glass to make your own hot chocolate. It's fun!!However, after I tried sooo much chocolate it kind of left a bitter taste in my mouth, but maybe I'm just not a big fan of their kind of chocolate . For me, Milka and Lindt rule! You should allow an hour and a half or two for your visit.
