Natural stone surfaces ideal for reclining under the sun, pine trees reaching down to the water's edge, emerald green water - Anthony Quinn certainly showed impeccable taste when he fell in love with its miniature bay. The beach is known today by the actor's name since he bought this part of the island when filming "The Guns of Navarone" here. The waters owe their deep emerald colour to the kush green vegetation which surrounds the beach. It is one of the most beautiful beaches on Rhodes. It's mostly popular with young people - especially Italians - since the sharp rocks both in and out of the water are not ideal for families with young children or elderly people. You will find people here only in July and August - during the rest of the year the water is so much too cold for most people. The finest spot is the rock right in the centre of the beach, with room for just a few sun beds. At the top of the rocks you will find a canteen and a card-operated telephone.
Visited this bay for swimming, sun bathing. There is a bit of a steep walk down to the beach on uneven path. The views and water were spectacular!
Definitely my favourite spot in Rhodes, such a peaceful slice of of beauty located at the end of a steep route down towards the beach. We were advised to spend a few hours by one of the barmen at the hotel we were staying at and ended up spending the entire day here. The water was clean and clear and the beach was spotless and although busy it was really quiet (letting us get a few hours sleep in as well). Only downside are the pebbles and the walk into the water is pretty painful as a result but it's worth it to enjoy a cool swim. We were able to get a taxi back pretty easily as well as it wasn't a distance that could be walked easily from our hotel. Love this place!
Apparently, this was the place where the commandos in he film came ashore. It was owned by Anthony Quinn and years ago had a very nice taverna but now just sells sandwiches. The route to the beach is steep but stepped. My friends and I now visit Ladiko Beach instead.
Of course I'm biased having actually got married at prophet ilias overlooking this bay, but it truly is breathtakingly beautiful. Crystal clear water, fishes swimming by your feet, wonderful scenery... the list goes on. My favourite place in all of Rhodes!
Traveled here on a boat trip from Faliraki. Water was warm and great for snorkelling. Floor was rocky and slippy, highly recommend taking water shoes and snorkel. Cafe located up a hill looking out over the bay, and sunbeds located around the shore could be rented for €2 each.
I was there last October. The bay is beautiful, clear water great for swimming. There is a little Tavern close to the beach with a choice of food and drinks.
I was amazed with a beauty of the beach. I like small beaches with limited number of people on it.Peaceful place to stay for a couple of hours. You can have a coffee on the terrace and admire a beautiful view.
Must visit the bay when in the area, it is very beautiful. There is a bar on the bay which is great to relax. There is also another bay on the other side of Anthony Quinn so make sure you take a walk past the carpark.
I am relatively new to sea-swimming and snorkelling but my husband and I really enjoyed our day trips to Anthony Quinn. However, be aware that the beach is very rocky - not much sand - and the neighbouring bay looked to have more sand, though we didn't manage to make it there.
The best beach in Europe!!! cristal water of the sea, amazing view!! Very romantic place during night !!!!
The most beautiful and impressive bay in whole island! :) Amazing place for swimming with cozy restaurant, the best place for coffee or breakfast/lunch. Don't miss the diving center with experienced staff and great offers :)
I was there last October.I think that it was ideal time. Not lots of people, nice crystal warm water (25 degrees) interesting diving and snorkeling. The bay is nice and calm, sarounded by pine trees. The beach is fantastic and if you feel bored you can snorkel or trek in a couple of pathways around the bay, or just have a beer in the cantina on the top of the bay - the place with the most amazing view!!!!Anthony Quinn is a paradise!!!!
Very nice beach, but you have to take a sunbed, because of the hard stones. The beach taverna could be better too.
The bay is absolutely beautiful, clear water great for swimming and snorkelling. I couldn't believe how warm the water was.
