Through this port, one enters the Altstadt (old city). Formerly there were in Wertheim 18 city gates from 13th and 15th century. These are well preserved Maintor (Main Gate), the Zolltor (Customs gate) and the Kittsteintor to the Tauber. This impressive Maintor with his lost approximately 1.5 meters height in 1883 to tilt because after several floods the surrounding shore area was incremented.
