This is near the Cathedral and there are a lot of shops and interesting historical buildings. There are ancient drains on the street so be aware of where you walk. The outside of the Cathedral is awesome but it was too late to enter by the time we were walking after dinner.
A marvellous atmosphaire... many caffes and happy people. close from the railway station. I love Freiburg and i will visit the city again. Notice... if you pkana trip to Basel, Mulhouse and Freiburg then stay in Freiburg and plan day visits to the other cities
This cathedral was built between 1200 and 1530 and is much like the gothic cathedrals in other areas. I am always surprised at the detail achieved by carving sandstone. The gargoyles, spires and saints on the outside are impressive. The inside is not so detailed except when it comes to the beautiful stained glass windows- amazing! Part of the cathedral is now under renovation, but there is still plenty to see and you can go inside. Definitely worth a visit!
Has a brilliant Minday to Saturday market with the most amazing selection of food, much of it local, plus flowers, Nik-naks, sausage stalls by the dozen and some great coffee shops and restaurants with lots of outside seating, although be aware that this is very touristy and the food and wine is geared towards that customer. We were there on a fabulous sunny Autumn day and had a delicious bag of hot chestnuts!
Interesting square in the center of old town Freiburg, dominated by the cathedral. Site of market during the days, featuring various vegetable, cheese, meat vendors, several crafts stalls, and a half dozen or so sausage stands. At least in the winter months, everything closes up by early evening and the square is virtually deserted at nights.
Very nice place . especially on Sarurdays there will be market with all stuff can be purchased Food veggies. wodden boards. flowers toys for kids,.....Worth the visit
The Münster is surrounded from beautiful architecture buildings. Even on a rainy day you are impressed. Very nice start for your walking tour through the old village.
The square is the center of everything! The shops and streets all feed into the square. Mon-Sat there is a morning market with local crafts, food, flowers, toys, and souvenirs. I like to sit down at one of the restaurants and grab some coffee or ice cream. Always charming and never a disappointment!
Charming platz in a charming town. It is also the market place and we wandered throgh buying cheese and wurst. Wonderful day!
especially on saturday mornings from 5 am, when there is a farmers market.Medieval architecture and cobblestone, small alleys and a very lovely view.
Worth a visit when in town, beautiful building, free entry although there is a small charge for going up in the tower.
My wife and I drove from Baden Baden, well its much better place here and bigger in size. Also, old buildings are better preserved here. A half day would do it.
Always enjoy walking around Munsterplatz, something new always catches the eye. Either sitting watching the world go by at one of the outside restaurants, or grazing the amazing street food when the market is on. Not to be missed when visiting the city.
