This landmark, located in the middle of the city centre, really has nothing to do with the rest of Karlsruhe. But, it is said that Charles I of Germany was really fond of Egypt and... this was the result! Enjoy taking a picture there and I dare you to avoid the trams that stop just next to it.
Interesting place on the tram stop. City center. Historical place. Close to the X-mas bazar. Read the history of this place and will be surprising! Market square. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karlsruhe_Pyramid
This pyramid is located right in the market square which is the most lively place in Karlsruhe. I read that the foundation stone of the Karlsruhe City is actually under or inside it. Although it resembles a miniature Egyptian pyramid but was only built in recent history. It is just an okay place to visit
It is quite simple, and small but it is still nice to tick this off the list. It is near the centre of Karlsruhe so you can't really miss it.
how can this be sold as a tourist attractions is beyond my comprehension..it is so small you barely see it.. it is not even worthy 50 characters
We have been here many times, it is simply the center of town. There is a story that "Karl" is actually resting underneath it for eternity. The city is named after him: Karlsruhe (Karl's rest),, always nice at Christmas.
We were led here whilst looking to do a 'webcam' geocache near here: use your smartphone or a friend uses a computer to take a photo of you at the sight.Once we had done this, we were drawn back to see this amazing pyramid. It looked beautiful at night here with coloured lights lighting up the area It's also great to learn some history of places like this pyramid and why it's here.Without Geocaching, we would not have discovered this wonderful and interesting feature: definitely worth a visit!
Nice meeting point for lots of visitors as it is located in the centre close to bars and restaurants. 5 min to the castle and shopping mall.
The pyramid is nice. Near of the Schloss. In the pyramid is buried the founder of Karlsruhe: Karl Wilhelm von Baden-Durlach. Near of the pyramid is also the Rathaus and Kongresszentrum.
The Pyramid is wrapped and amidst road works, so not an obvious tourist destination right now. Nonetheless, been there, done that.
The Pyramid is cool, but underwhelming, so make sure you go to the Schloss museum to get the history of the region.
The pyramid just stands there (in the middle of the constructed city!), with no explanation in English, so we had to read briefly on Wiki Travel. Not even worth to take picture near it.
The area around it in city center is undergoing major roads construction government build renovation. Perhaps when things complete in 2015
There's nothing special with this landmark, only a small building with pyramid shape. My husband told me the history about the landmark, but I forgot how it was. Somehow it's the symbol of Karlsruhe, so you can't say you have visited Karlsruhe, until you are taking picture with Karlsruhe pyramid :)
We saw it whilst travelling out of the city. Yes it's a pyramid but it just seems very impracticable to work in. It does, however, stand out and the fame of the building probably makes up for any issues working there.
