Fantastic view with a nice sunny day. Been well maintained in despite of number of years built. It is a monument that will be kept in my memory. Will return to Andernach as it is a city full of history.
We had a wonderful evening at Namedy Castle as part of our APT cruise along the Rhine River. We were fortunate enough to be able to meet Princess Heide and her daughter Princess Anna. Certainly a wonderful evening walking around the castle, both inside and out (bedrooms are off limits) then having a banquet in the Great Hall with a pianist from a nearby musical college entertaining us between courses. Definitely one of the highlights of our cruise.
We visited the castle in August as part on the APT tour. Expectations were high as we were not sure how to greet Princess Heide. A charming woman casually dressed met us as we were enjoying a welcome drink. "Tonight this is your home, feel free to wander at your own leisure, then I will summoned you with a gong announcing dinner. Explore we did photo albums, pictures, views through windows. The gong sounded and we were escorted into the grand hall for dinner. Served by well skilled waiting staff the food and mood was excellent. What followed was out of this world. A young Albanian music student entertained us with music that was out of this world. Her name I cannot remember, but this night shall remain with me for a lon time. Thank you for sharing your world with me
Superb in every respect . The gracious hospitality in this magnificent castle accompanied our every moment. From the cocktail hour to the excellent dinner followed by a truly impressive piano recital, our expectations were exceeded. The venue, the food and the hospitality are a credit to the owner.
Originally a small 14th century water Castle built by Knight genus von Hausmann involving the Adelshof "Niederhof". In 1896 converted into a Castle in historicism style by Arnold Freiherr von Solemacher-Antweiler. During WW I Princess Josephine allowed the mirror hall to be used as a hospital. At present owned by the House of Hohenzollern (lower Rhine line of Sigmaringen). The former water Castle is surrounded by a park where regularly art festivals are held, it has a Knights ' Hall with library and a large mirror hall (used for concerts). Reputed for the National Chamber music concerts, lectures, "Andernach music days" with renowned musicians from the national and international music scene.
