You'll see this one from many kilometers away. It's a crazy tall tower on a high hill, and you probably won't have to elbow your way through busloads of tourists to get in. Most of the castle is in ruins, but they have restored the tower and installed some very nice displays, audio presentations, and even videos in both English and German! If you're at Maria Laach anyway, this makes a nice side trip as it's pretty close. If it's open, be sure to climb all the way to the top of the tower for a pretty spectacular view of the surrounding landscape. The walk from the parking lot to the entrance gate is uphill.
