Most Italian Lake breaks and holidays will occur in Lake Garda, Como or Maggiore. Don't get me wrong - we are very fond of all the lake region and area. However we love Lake Iseo for several reasons - better value in a like-for-like comparison; easily manageable as you can probably go round most towns dotting the lake during your stay; and last but not least Monte Isola island in the middle, the largest island of all the lakes. Easy distance should you wish to visit both Brescia and/or Verona, Venice will be a very long day, but it can be done. Icing on the cake - the Franciacorta wines. Wouldn't necessarily suggest it if you've never been to the Italian Lakes as our first choice, but if you go back to the area, then definitely worth a visit.
The lake and its surroundings are beautiful. I liked the fact that it is a place where Italians live and work, not just a tourist destination.
iseo lake is very nice for walk with family you can see the monte isla there are many bird and beautiful beach. Greast holliday
On a family vacation in october. Lake iseo is anything but crowded at this time, though that also means that possibilities for fe. swimming are very limited as most of the beaches are closed. Loads of outdoor activities available for people that are resourceful and not afraid to venture out for fe. hikes. Weather in october is mild and warm, as the tourist season is allready over, theres also lots of room for sight seeing and shopping in the surrounding county.
Got there by accident (when weather was not and our side) and we couldn't be happier!! Amazing hidden gem. Quiet and beautiful.Pay a half day visit at least!
in comparison to crowded and overrated Lake Garda this area is almost deserted. The hills are spectacular and biking is demanding.
I spent a wonderful day at this beautiful location. We took the boat ride across to the island, had a wonderful lunch, then proceeded to walk totally around the island. It is not for the faint-hearted as the entire circuit is approximately 9 kilometers...but the scenery both on the island and looking out from the island is great. We started off with clear skies, but things did get a bit foggy later in the day, so mountains in the distance were hard to see. The walk is flat for a bit, but there are some areas that are fairly steep too, so some in our group chose to take the bus that runs up over the top of the hill and stops for those folks so they too can enjoy the view.
We visited in mid May and enjoyed a relaxing break. We were on a package with Inghams so we could opt in to some of their trips, Bergamot, wine tasting, rose gardens etc. The public boat service is more limited this early, so if you are relying on public transport going a little later would be advisable. The boat plus bike hire on Monte Isola and Brescia by train are easy enjoyable independent trips. It was good to stay somewhere less touristy than Garda and we enjoyed trying out our rudimentary Italian. People were very helpful despite speaking little English. I would go again when there are more boats and perhaps as an add on to a city break.
such a beautiful lake and my only disappointment was that we only passed through and did not spend more than an hour touring it. It's quiet and relaxing. Would definitely spend at least a day there next time!!
sunny relaxing and a wonderful circular bike ride around the island.Starts flat, the very steep hill flat, then down hill. Get lunch as you go or as a deal at the start of the ferry drop off. Diffcult not to be distracted by the view of the lake, or scenery.
Beautiful view. Amazing place. I love the peaceful, calming character of this place, nice places to eat. Downside of this place was lots of small motorbikes passing all the time through the narrow street.
I loved the setting of this beautiful area. Wide open spaces, bike paths, amazing authentic Italian restaurants and beautiful views. TAke a ferry across the lake or just sit and enjoy an ice cream on the many benches around the lake.
Fantastic scenery, no hustle & bustle, not over-run with tourists. Choice of things to do ie: boat trips, cycle hire, lakeside beaches.
Went here last week on my trip to Italy. It's called laga iseo in Italian. It's not small as some people make out. It's just smaller compared to other lakes like Garda & Como. I would highly recommend going here. Because it's not that famous amongst tourists it's not busy at all. It cost us 19.70€ for 4 of us to have mini ship ride. It was worth every euro as the ship ride took almost an hour. During which time we saw some stunning views. Make sure you remember the name of where you start your ship ride as you don't want to get of at the wrong stop.
Me and my bf stayed in Bergamo for couple of days and decided to go to see Lago d'Iseo which was a great choice! I recommend a trip from Bergamo to Sarnico, then take a boat to Monte Isola (check the times beforehand!), stay there for a while - lovely place for a stroll or just to relax with the book - and take the boat to Lovere and bus back to Bergamo (keep in mind last bus is 7.30pm). The boat trip itself is amazing, lovely views of the lake and small villages on the shores! Fantastic day trip!
