The shape of this theater is rare : small and very well kept, you could say it was built for hobbits ! Wolfgang Amedeus Mozart played here when he was very young. The visit is short, less than half of an hour will do.No guides nor audio-guides are available.Museums Card is accepted.

This is a beautiful theater, historic for being where Mozart played at age 13, and beautifully preserved. We were lucky to have visited it as it is a bit off the beaten track.

This very special theatre, was built to plans of Antonio Galli Bibiena as a venue for scientific discussions, performances, and concerts. The young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart gave a memorable concert here.Only 2 eur to get in, children for free, gives you as much time as you want to explore this gem, stalles, boxes and on stage.

At the end of via Accademia there is the Teatro Bibiena, a little 18thC jewel designed by Antonio Bibiena. It I a wooden theatre covered with red velvet and it's 3 levels upper tiers boxes. It was opened with an inaugural concert by Mozart who was only 14 at the time. It continues to be the centre of many cultural activities in Mantua.

Cute little theatre, not a must to have seen, but if you around, as it is very close to Palazzo Ducale, I recommend to have a look. You won't regret it.

The theatre was staged with classical music playing in the background, and you can sit in the theatre, peacefully, thinking about the splendid times spent in Teatro Bibiena,

Teatro Bibiena is a small baroque theater located in the center of Mantova.Even though it is very small, it is still overwhelming when you step inside. It has everything you would expect from a large opera theater like balconies and beautiful decoration. At the same time it is very cozy because of its small size. It is something special. The theater is a great way to get some cultural inspiration without spending half a day walking in a palace. You can probably not spend more than 30 minutes in Teatro Bibiena, but the entrance fee of €2 is also reflecting that.

To say that the entrance fee of a couple Euros was worth it doesn't do justice to the elegance of the design and the openness of access to an acoustically superb venue. We know because we listened to a pair of pianists rehearsing as we walked in and the sounds seemed to emanate crisply from the source with no resonances or reflections. It is a treat to behold and our regret is not being able to attend a concert there. Be reminded that Mozart at the age of 13 performed there days after its opening. His father is reputed to have said that it was the best theater in Europe.

this very intimate theatre is beautiful. The architecture, the great decorations and the small size are absolutely unique. It does not take long to visit, you are allowed to walk across the seats, on the stage and into two balconies on the upper level. The entrance is about 2 euro. It is worth the visit!

This is a nice theatre worth a quick visit, a pity that it was not allowed to visit the upper floor.Mind your head! I think you can appreciate more during a concert or opera.

The relatively small Teatro Bibiena is unlike any other theatre you are likely to see. What appears to be stucco and stonework is all tromp l'oeil painted wood. Well worth the visit, we were able to go to a concert where we could also see painted work on the interior of the boxes, not always on view when the orchestra level is open to the public.

a jewel box of a theater, the kind of spot we do not have in the US (what can I say, we're just not old enough!). hearing a concert here is being transported back in time.

As other reviewers have noted, this small theater is a kind of gem, in the middle of the city. It is so different from the outside and secluded, it gives you the impression of traveling in the past. The "palchi" are perfectly preserved/restored; you can enter one of them, to see the interior from the same point of view of the audience. Additionally, we were lucky enough to find a team of musicians who were testing, so their music added to the atmosphere (even if of course they repeated the same part, over and over). But this was all; we would have appreciated something more, for instance some pictures (maybe photos of paintings) of a theater show in Mozart times. Additionally: we know the theater was used for science experiences; for whom, which experiences, how...? we could not find any info on this.

A small entry fee is required but worth it (or part of the multi museum card). It is possible to roam freely into all aspects of the theatre - a beautiful little gem.
