Great space, especially if you like Palladian architecture. The "basilica" generally offers wonderful exhibitions, so it is worth a visit.
The lights fell like a cascade from the clock tower and covered the piazza, then trailed off down the side streets. Magic!
Square surrounded with very nice buildings. It is good to occupy the table outside of one of restaurants, order Spritz and admire the beautiful environment.
What a Piazza San Marco, Venezia could be minus the million usually found there! Palladio's city weaves a spell and this Piazza is the centerpiece
... the Tower at San Marco. That is because Venice was the most powerful city in the Veneto. They exercised civil and military control over much of the area for centuries. Whether the Venetians commanded or influenced the style of towers is immaterial. The little brother is worth a look in its own right.
This is the heart of Vicenza, and extremely nice, but certainly not comparable to St Marco in Venice, or indeed many other public squares scattered about Europe. However, you visit Vicenza to experience the town in its entirety, rather than this particular square, so my comment is not intended as a criticism of the square per se.
Beautiful square with Palladio palaces, place for soaking Vicenza life! Sourround with caffe bar and few restaurants. On the square fairs are held on weekend where you can buy regional items.
Very beautiful square and palaces. But at the evening we couldn't understand if it's allowed to go upstair of Basilica and it's free o not. Hope to discover it during my next visit.
This beautiful square with typical Palladio palaces in the centre of the old town from ca 1570. The main work is the Basilica Palladiana, an old gothic building totally renwed by Palladio. (Basilica is here not a church, Palladio himself suggested the name). There is also a tower 80 m high from the 12th century on the square, and columns, other palaces. Enare
and its free. There is a market on Thursdays (maybe other days too but we walked into it on a Thursday), which gives it during the morning a different atmosphere than later the day when they remove the booths.
Piazza dei Signori is literally the heart of Vicenza where most things happen. Surrounded by cafes and gelato shops, it is a great place to people watch. However, be aware that food and beverage is cheaper further away from the Piazza. Market days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a large selection of merchandise. The antique market is on the first Sunday of the month.
Lovely place to spend an afternoon. Beautiful old buildings, including just the apartment buildings that surround the square. Very tall tower, lots of gelaterias and cafes, people watching, etc.
Tgis is downtown area and its on the main downtown square and its really cool, for the day and night life
My family and I enjoyed walking through and around the piazza and soaking in the history and architecture. Very central to Vicenza with lots of shopping, restaurants, and gelaterias nearby.
But do not go there between 1-4pm as everything except a couple lunch places is closed, unless you're really into the architecture. The Palladium is beautiful and the people watching is superb.
