Wow, what a view to see a castle built on a rock! No problems finding it with our GPS. We seemed to miss any dedicated parking areas, (if there are any) but parked near the base of the entrance walking path just off the street. No problems with this. The castle ruins were really interesting and amazing, and well worth the small entrance fee. You can walk behind the castle up a small incline for another nice photo. We then drove up the main road a bit and turned onto a small road near some houses for a nice photo op as well.
The place had a fantastic atmosphere. We visited on a Sunday morning, and as it was August, they had a group of people dressed in medieval costumes preparing food and demonstrating sword fighting. We loved our time here, it's a definite must.
Only a short drive from Trencin,Beckov Castle is visible for miles around, sitting up high on a ridge.Much of the exterior is,regretably,in ruins, but new, wooden, buildings have been installed in the Castle courtyard. These house a tourtist shop, a café and some exhibitions. The views from the ramparts are excellent.
We have visited the castle very early in the morning so it was very quite and not so hot. It is very nice castle and the view is stunning. Really enjoyed the stay there. Not siutable for wheelchairs and strollers...you have to carry your baby on the top.
Part ruins, part renovated old Beckov Castle is a interesting place to visit, the visit is short and cheap. The Turks could not take it, because was completely build of rocks, they had no chance to burn it from outside.Recommending.
Nice castle (ruins) width season attractions: archery, historic and regional cuisine. Nice view from castle at sunrise and sunset time
This castle can be found with a 1 hour drive from Bratislava and is nice to visit for adults and children. To go up the castle it is required to climb the stairs which will give you a marvelous view of the surroundings. The fee is around 3,50 euro and there are also English leaflets to guide you through the ruins. There is also a café in the castle which was closed on the Sunday we were there.
Nice little walk through the village to this place. Great to chill out and enjoy. It's in ruins, but that is what makes this place so cool. Its a pretty easy walk up with a lovely view and a little climb if you fancy it. It's well looked after and a really interesting place.
This castle is a bit off the beaten track but well worth the detour. Not a lot of reconstruction has gone on but the ruins are stabilised and offer great views over the village below.
A fairly large and imposing castle a top of a rock face with a relatively easy walk up and very well conserved. Guides are provided in various languages and the sights around the castle are numbered for easy identification. there's a theatre / puppet show in the lower castle grounds where they stage various productions - it was a punch and judy puppet show on when we visited with a fire breathing dragon. There's a few exhibits of defensive weapons too like catapults and cannons. Climb up the stairs to the main castle and there are lots of rooms some accessible some not. I think there is a continual project to make more of the castle accessible which is good and you can look through windows and door ways and still see extensive areas yet to be uncovered. One of the best features is one of the rooms and a terrace has been made in to a bar so you can sit in the shade or sun with great views and enjoy a very cheap beer and snacks. It really is very well mantained and quite accessible. certainly you could spend a couple of hours there if you like to sit back and relax. There is also an excellent Pizza Place in the village below the castle - something to do with devils as i recall - just looks like a pup from the outside and quite basic inside but amazing value and quality food.
