Great little museum, with a beautiful view and atmosphere....be sure to spend a few hours. If you are staying in Sancerre and there is any community event held there be sure to attend.

A very worthwhile visit which really surprised me with its very contemporary presentation of the 'terroir'. Makes you appreciate what goes into the nurturing and growing in this area. A lovely insight into the wine growers and their love of the grape.

Spent the afternoon in Sancerre today with my husband and 3 children. Made to feel very welcome, activities for the children and an excellent insight into the wine industry in Sancerre. Wine tasting and a free wine glass too!

The first time I did not realize it is both French and English. This is a great inter active history of the region and wine. The stories told by some of the older people are great. A MUST SEE.they also let u taste the wine.

This is a quite excellent experience. The displays are superb and in English if you wish. Absolutely superb for information on Sancerre wine making. The use of locals to tell the tale was inspired.Best of all you get a free wine tasting at the end and get to keep the glass.

This is a thoroughly well-done exhibit showing the history and geology of the region, and there are numerous displays explaining the production of the local wines.

A brilliant museum. Take the time to watch the videos, you'll learn a lot about winemaking! Te tasting at the end is a healthy glass of wine. The only downside was that the videos were not for sale, i suspect for copyright reasons, because I could watch them again and again. Lovely staff too.

Compact, well-done museum about the region of Sancerre, complete with souvenir wine-glasses and a taste of Sancerre wine.

Self guided tour giving all the information you need about the production of this excellent French wine. All the panels are in French and English and the videos in French with English sub titles. There is a herb garden outside and the tour ends with a glass of Sancerre. Follow the red trail around the town.

This is a very well designed museum that offers a good history of Loire Valley wine making. It offers some good multimedia demonstrations as well as a self-paced section with instructive, informative panels on local wine making practices. There is also a garden (with vines) and an upper-deck with great views. The self-paced tour ends with a glass of Sancere. Overall, this was a great experience.

This interactive museum very clearly explains the history of the area geographically as well as the history of wine growing in the appellation. Much care and pride has been taken to make this museum as interesting and informative as possible. The films of the local vintners telling their stories are fascinating. The wine tasting and complimentary glass at the end are a bonus! It was a great introduction for me before I visited two area wine makers to know the basics. It is located on the historic red trail around this historic village.

Very well thought out and informative displays in a beautifully renovated building. Loved the little booths each with a video on aspects of Sancerre, explanation of the geology, history of the vineyards, how it was cleverly promoted by the viticulteurs travelling to Paris with their wine in the early 1950s. A well deserved success for the winegrowers of the area, which is continued today with this co-operative project. Loved it!Explanations in French and English, the videos are subtitled. A small boutique with wine/Sancerre related gifts and postcards. There is also a garden planted to show the different plant aromas, a game for children and all completed with a tasting. The name of each wine used for tasting is never revealed - a great example of the unity of these viticulteurs in promoting Sancerre.

The young lady behind the desk was very pleasant and very well informed. The exhibitions were laid out well and easy to follow. The videos conveyed the essence of wine growing not just bare facts but the way of life past and present. The virtual tractor ride is a fun way to end the tour before heading for the terrace and a taster of wine and the glass it is served in as a souvenier.

AwayAtWeekends

Lots of explanation on well laid out boards. Clips (with sub-titles) of people talking about different aspects of Sancerre and its wine business (and seats whilst you listen). Good view from the terrace.
