The place is amazing but we highly recommend the hiking path from Cap Frehel to Fort La Latte. The landscape is amazing with flowers, Sea and cliffs...you will remember it for a long time!
The lighthouse is worth a visit; there are nice explanation boards about the evolution of the building & great views from the top. The birds, red cliffs, heather etc make a wonderful vista. We noticed that the 'towers of stones' has caught on here. Good beaches on the road from Sables d'Or
The Cap Frehel is a great place to stop by and enjoy the awesome cliff formations and the view along the cost. If you around you should plan a stop there!
Good value only 2 euros to park and the same if you want to climb the light house, great walks stunning costal views. Staff very helpful also.
You can park for 2 Euros at the foot of the lighthouse or at a free car park close to a mile a away and walk either along the wide path by the road or in the fields of flower path which winds along the coast with the best views. Climbing the lighthouse gives a more distant view but since the best scenery is a ground level, why bother. The WC by the coast near the lighthouse is the only one and not a very pleasant experience. The walk along the coast is really quite spectacular but it not for those not sure of there feet, there is no place to rest and the path rock strewn, but worth the effort.
Beautiful scenery (the best in Brittany?), with great hiking paths around the site and to Fort la Latte. Wonderful beaches near by as well.
This is the most stunning place for seascape and cliff views. The paths were good and there were plenty of birds to study and photograph. There is a €2 parking fee but it was worth it . You can get views of Fort Latte and walk the coastal path to.
At Cap Fretel three was a lighthouse, which was open at 1430 (no good for us). There was no snack bar. Beside the current one, there was an old lighthouse and a further one right out at the Point. Three was a good view towards Paimpol on one side and beyond St Malo on the other.
Visited Cap Frehel in early October on a Sunday. Still crowded, but the weather was beautiful and the crowd was not too bad. I am amazed at the clarity of the water. It is just beautiful!
For us, the ethereal sound of a binou and bombarde playing Breton music floating in the wind was dreamlike and suited the bleak, yet beautiful landscape at Cap Frehel. Some dangerous drops to the sea, an interesting little museum of old photographs and history of Terre Nueve. There is a good car-park and public toilets. If you don't like wild places, don't go - if you do - enjoy it. You can also climb the lighthouse.
Stunning views, and a lovely walk. We took some beautiful pictures here. Very scenic, and well worth the two euros it cost to park the car in the car park. We passed the sign which said 'continue past this point at your own risk' because apparently our progress would 'become difficult'. Hmm - it was easy peasy, so long as you are careful on the uneven ground. Highly recommended.
I visited Cap Frehel with my family in August 2013. We walked from Cap Frehel to Fort La Latte. The views were stunning. Fort La Latte was also nice. Don't miss the locally produced ice cream from the nearby shop.
I would rather go to another point/cliff nearby my hotel and avoid all the fuss and crowds of Cap Frehel. Didn't think it was so special.
Outstanding nature.Great view.Biological interesting. My parents, who have been all over the world, named it one of the most beautyfull places in the world. Dont miss it!When you go back notice the signs on the sales of calvados, pommeau and cidre. It is really worth to follow the signs.Good trip.
well worth the drive. Very large lighthouse, with high rocky cliffs and crashing waves. loved it. Very close is Fort LaLatte and also excellent. Old castle in a beautiful location.
