We'd read that this was one of the prettiest villages in France, but most villages in France seem to claim that. However, we really enjoyed this one. The whole village is built on a steep slope and most of the streets are on a slope and cobbled. There's a great church and of course, the great attraction is the church high up in the valley with a gold star hung from the cliff above which we decided to miss. The village is indeed very picturesque and we enjoyed just wandering around. It's got lots of tourist shops and restaurants. We found a lovely little ice cream parlour in the shade where we enjoyed the most wonderful ice-cream.The village is built into the narrow valley through a rock cliff and in the evening we watched the sunset reflected on the rock which turned it a glowing gold colour. The village had looked lovely during the day, but we felt this was it at it's best.Parking is a nightmare so it's best to park in one of the car parks just below the town. It's also not a place that would be comfortable for those with mobility issues. There's not a great deal of sight-seeing to do here, but it's a great place for a relaxing wander and lunch or ice-cream. We'd definitely go back.

Beautiful setting. The backdrop of waterfalls and a beautiful gorge. Picturesque cobblestone streets. Don't go after October 30 th. Most restaurants are closed as well as many shops.

I've been to Moustiers a few times now and taken various friends and family and I'm afraid overall they were a little underwhelmed and I also, apart from the first time when we went early May on a beautiful day.Its a lovely place, voted last year in the top five most beautiful villages in France. The setting is incredible and the walk up to the church at the head of the village quite remarkable, almost Tolkienesque. Its pretty slippy mind on the well worn limestone so you need to watch out, particularly on the way down. The village itself just feels like it has given itself over to mass tourism and who can blame them really if the droves keep coming. We combined it this summer with a trip to the lake and that worked very well, with Moustiers being of secondary importance. My wife and I have been a few times in early spring and even in winter after walking in the nearby mountains and that has been very nice. I went once with friends in peak period and it was just so busy with coach loads of people we more or less whizzed around and left. So in summary a superb, spectacular place which is great at certain times of year, just don't build it up too much so as not to be disappointed. It is one of the stand out villages in the area though and should be on anyone's list of places to visit.

A lovely, pretty village with an array of local craft and gift shops and many quaint winding alleys for you to wander around. Yummy cafés and ice-cream shops and warm welcoming people. There's even a waterfall running through the town. The only downside is it was quite tricky to park.

For one week in Provence, we passed by many villages in our rental car. This was the cutest, quaintest, perfect little village in all of Provence. There is a waterfall which comes straight from the mountain spring which supplies water to all the village fountains. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, ice cream parlors, souvenir shops. The view is spectacular and the stroll around each little alleyway is very romantic and fun.

A picturesque little town - lovely home brewed local beer. A steep walk up to the church from the centre but well worth the effort

Such a beautiful little town. I would recommend a hike to the top. The lake nearby (Lac de Sainte Croix) is a beautiful turquois colour and you can rent a 4 person paddle boat to go up the river to see the waterfalls. Be cafeful about parking your car, someone stole stuff from my car. Driving up the canyon along "Gorges du Verdon" is incredible. You drive along a 2000 foot cliff through tunnels and winding roads.
