This is not the most impressive cathedral but a working church in a working class neighborhood with a spiritual feel. Nice not to be charged for a visit to a place of holiness.
How come people do not talk about this cathedral ? It may look a little ordinary, perhaps even odd, on the outside; but inside it is wonderful. The individual chapels are all stunning, the stained glass is excellent, and it even has a spooky tomb. A must-see if you are in Perpignan.
We were lucky enough to visit when someone was playing the fantastic organ inside, the acoustics are amazing, I could have listened for hours. It's a beautiful, fairly typical cathedral with soaring ceilings, lots to look at, worth a visit. All of the information is in French, so if you don't read French and want to know the history you'll have to look it up elsewhere.
as usual Cathedrals are always a must in the town you visit.this is not spectacular, but its word a visit.no longer that 30 min you cant miss it since as always in the center... do no miss the little market on weekends in the plaza near by.
This building is surrounded by a maze of tightly packed streets, so the space within is utterly unexpected. Soaring pillars, enormous side rooms, fantastic paintings, giltwork, architecture. Well worth a visit, even if like me you're not religious
Recently restored, a quite typical South of France Cathedral. Take your time to visit its wide interior and do not forget its side Dévot Christ chapel as well as the next door Campo Santo unique in France
The cathedral is a particular draw, much as Canterbury is in England. It is a beautiful place to visit, the facilities are fresh and pleasant and the staff warm and proud of their charge. We enjoyed every part of the experience and we are extremely happy to recommend Working this great attraction into your schedule is a pleasant must, you will enjoy learning about the place this cathedral has in the hearts and minds of citizens here.
the church is very old medieval and has a rough look with an open bell Tower. its decorates with golden ornaments.
This is a very different style of church Don the outside and is amazing inside with little alcoves and beautiful stained glass. Serene to visit and very alive with service.
The external walls are partly constructed from big pebbles, taken from the nearby river. This alongside the red brick, gives this cathedral a distinctive and attractive facade, definitely worth a look.Inside is the usual baroque clutter you'll find in many a continental Catholic cathedral. Nothing wrong with that, if it floats your boat. But nothing special to see inside.
A slightly unusual cathedral with no side aisles, multiple chapels, and a magnificent cavaille coll organ halfway down the have. Many painted walls. Well worth a visit for both regular and casual cathedral visitors. Nice to get out of the sun too. :-)
When we entered this cathedral someone walked up to the organ and started playing the most beautiful music. It created such an air of serenity and peace in the church that we spent quite a bit of time there. Don’t walk past if you are in the area
This cathedral has a very nice interior, you should also visit the chapel which has a crucifixion behind the alter, it really shows the pain and suffering of Christ. You need to go close to get the full effect.
Now that the renovations are completed it is certainly worth a visit.Situated in the centre of Perpignan dating back to the 11th century.
The cathedral is a typical catholic one with large ornate side chapels and main altar. It was quiet and peaceful and worth going into.
