we could not go inside this magnificent building, but I would love to see it when restoration is complete

Rouen is a beauty - everyone knows that... Palais de Justice is a true gem of this delightful Normandy city and a perfect example of the most elaborate Gothic style. It is remarkably preserved (I am sure it has undergone many painstaking restorations) and looks magnificent. It is located at the end of the pedestrian zone and presents a wonderful opportunity for pictures. Too bad that public is not allowed to go inside...

Fantastic architecture and wonderful sculpture in the courtyard. I took a couple of pictures from outside the railings and was called over by a gendarme, thought I was in trouble, but instead he ushered us through the security and allowed us nearer the sculpture and building. To our delight he gestured for us to go up the outside staircase and go into the main hall, where some of the courts were in session. The hall is fantastic, a beautiful wooden ceiling, ornate stonework, with shell holes from previous skirmishes. I hasten to add we did not enter any of the court rooms. Wow, we felt really lucky to have seen this. Thank you

This early 1500s Gothic masterpiece is certainly among the most attractive public buildings that we saw during our tour of Normandy. Rouen must have been an awfully important city in the late Middle Ages to merit the construction of such a large, elegant and expensive structure. The building suffered horrific damage in 1944. Thankfully, a long and difficult restoration project returned it to its former grandeur. On the Rue Jeanne d'Arc side of the façade you can still see bullet holes and other battle scars as well as the tell-tale signs of repairs. It’s a shame that the Palais de Justice isn’t open to the public. I would have loved to tour the interior, if only to see the majestic Hall of Prosecutors.

You can't enter the Palace of Justice but walk around it and have a look at the facade which is quite good but not as good as Notre Dame around the corner.

The Palais de Justice is a wonderful building the intricacies of its carvings are well worth a good view.

This building will take your breath away - it must have been cleaned recently, it's absolutely awesome. Too bad it's often occupied by lawyers and criminals ....

Superbe bâtiment qui a traversé des siècles d'histoire de Rouen. Malheureusement, ce bijou est encore en fonction (palais de justice). Il mériterait mille fois d'être reconverti en un vrai lieu touristique (et les magistrats mériteraient des locaux plus fonctionnels)

Récemment rénové c est mon monument historique préféré à rouen ! Des visites sont organisées lors des journées du patrimoine. En dehors de cette période mieux vaut ne pas avoir besoin d'y aller :)

Ce somptueux édifice fut édifié entre 1499 pour la partie la plus ancienne jusqu'au 19ème siècle pour la partie la plus récente.Il devint Parlement de Normandie en 1515.Ce magnifique monument, qui a bénéficié d'une restauration complète dans ces dix dernières années, est le plus grand édifice gothique civil de France.La cour d'honneur est une merveille absolue : on peut admirer son somptueux décor aux détailssculptés d'une grande finesse.N'oubliez pas de rentrer dans la cour(demander aux policiers de garde) pour aller découvrir (en haut de l'escalier de gauche), la gigantesque salle des Pas Perdus avec son plafond de bois en forme de carène de bateau renversée.Au fond à droite de cette pièce se trouve la plus belle salle du palais : la Salle des Assises hélas souvent fermée pour raisons de sécurité.

L'architecture du Palais de Justice de Rouen est surprenante et le bâtiment est classé aux monuments historique.C'est un des lieux phare de la ville et des plus appréciés des touristes!

situé en plein centre ville , le palais de justice en cours de rénovation , se visite et est un point de départ pour aller dans tout le vieux rouen avec ses rues pavées.

Palais de Justice великолепный дворец, построенный в 16 веке. Он украшен большим количеством фигур святых, горгуль. В те времена, в нем располагался Парламент Нормандии, а сейчас здесь органы судебной власти и музей. На фотографиях он смотрится величественно и монументально.
