I have read all the other reviews and agree with all of them but on a personal level and my wife's view is that it filled some missing areas. It was part of the visit to the main British and Commonwealth cemetery just up the road. It is important that many children see these museums to imprint this modern factual history in their minds. It may not work for some of the more mature of us but I am glad we visited. Over the past 4 days in the area we visited every major museum and visitor centre and came away with an emotional understanding that we will never forget and total gratitude for the lost generation that gave their lives so I could live my life peacefully.

Visited the Museum, and spent 2hours there, and maybe could have spent more. Thought the displays were well done and they have significant memorabilia. When in Bayeux, if you have the time you should visit....it is across from the British Cemetery, which we did not have enough time for.

We visited here before taking off for the coast. It was a great intro to the history of the D-Day invasion. We purchased the combo ticket for here and the Tapestry Museum. Very reasonable cost.

We stopped at the Museum of the Battle of Normandy on our historical daylong tour of the province. Our party loved everything about this museum. It is filled with great content and the buildings have wonderful view of the town.

This memorial did a great job in summarizing the sights. I highly recommend actually visiting the locations of each battle, but if you can't the memorial will not upset you.

We visited here whilst in Bayeux and thought it was a really interesting and really informative. You can also get the little train there and back, but it's also in walking distance of the centre of Bayeux.

A detailed account of Battle and the aftermath - the subject matter is treated evenhandedly without any bias being apparent. I felt sympathy for German comanders who were put in impossible positions who committed suicide rather than carry out futile orders, and respect for leaders who ignored Hitlers order to destroy Paris. The presence of Hitler youth members as full time soldiers in the front line was explained, as well as the various "excentricities" of many of the Allied commanders. The suffering of the local population was given its rightful consideration, and the equipment carried by all combattents was exhibited and the pros and cons of each carefully explained. The role of DeGaul and his part in keeping the French struggle alive was well represented, as was the involvement of the various nationalities from around Europe and the wider world. Most of the information is in English as well as French. Be careful to avoid the 2 hour closure for lunch - 12:00 til 14:00 when we visited. We were politely asked to leave at 12:00 so the 5 museum employees could all go to lunch, although we were advised that we could return at 14:00 if we wished. Getting block tickets to visit the other local museums is a good deal.

If you know your history of D-day well - give the museum a miss. There is nothing really new - though the film is interesting. If you are a WWll novice - this is a very good museum to come to - remember you can buy combined tickets for the Tapestry as well. Shop poor.

This museum and others in the region feature well preserved military equipment and wonderful commentary.Very interesting and eell explained.

Lots of equipment, maps, bios of protagonist generals. If you're in Bayeux for a tour of the Normandy Beaches, this museum is a good intro to the subject.

I have always been fascinated by the Second World War and the battle in Europe in particular. We based ourselves in Bayeux and glad we did. This museum is full to the rafters of fabulous displays and has a good balance between items and artifacts as well as printed displays and sound items. We rushed through a little too much because we were heading to the D-Day beaches, but would go back again.

Those born after 1960 may not have a true perspective on WWII and the importance of the June 6, 1944 Normandy invasion?Definitely worth your visit

Seeing what they had to use to fight the war with and how they cootidinated everything so well with so,little was amaxing. waybto go Greatest Generation !

We watched a short documentary with first-person stories from several men who participated in D-Day. It was very moving and and an effective way to perhaps better understand what it meant for the Americans who faced all the German bunkers, cliffs etc. that we were seeing.

Even with the actual tour and this moving exhibit it is hard to imagine the extraordinary courage and heroism displayed on DDay. This museum is well worth a visit.
