ostrow tumski - (cathedral island)

Looked around the Ostrow Tumski ( cathedral island )Hard to tell you are on an island .The botanic gardens are there but open from end March onwards. great churches and buildings to see ,a pleasant garden to see and rest in.Spend around an hour to see all.

Very beautiful place, my recommendation would be to visit it in the late evening or night as well. The place is magic.

I really enjoyed my visit here! You only need to plan an hour in the winter weather but it's so beautiful with a few lovely churches. I would not miss this during your visit!

When you look at it from far you can feel the greatness of the scenery. When you go to the Island, you are surrounded but very well preserved and amazing buildings of all type. From gothic style to and Orthodox church facades. There you can see almost all types of architecture and religious movements and you transfer yourself in another century.

As soon as you enter the island through a bridge you automatically become the part of old and well preserved architectural complex. Beautiful buildings, cobble streets and a magnificently high cathedral make this place a perfect for an afternoon light stroll. It's deffinitely worth visiting if you're in Wroclaw.

It is a free attraction, nice to go visit. Gorgeous architecture inside, lots of detail and intricate work done.

An island with buildings ranging years back in time. Mostly clerical ones. It is nice to stroll by, have a look here and there. It's peaceful for sure, and quiet. So if you are looking for a place to go for a walk - this is the one!

Nice place to walk around. It is a complex of nice old buildings, all owned by bishops or in general - by the Church. Located near the river (Odra). There are some small islands on Odra nearby, too.

It was nice to see it. It made me feel like going back in time a little bit. It also seemed to be a place seized by local clergy. No shops, no restaurants, quiet and... boring...

We went there after dusk, and we were surprise how atsmosferic this place is! It's like back in time to XVII century. We found only one shop (a bookshop) and one restaurant. The rest of the building is a church property. Great place!

This island is another precious from Wroclaw. Have the same feeling as in everything historic in this city, that is imaculated, that the time didnt pass by, and if you are a towers lover as me, fill up yourself with the church ones, they are magnificent, powerfull... You will have some issues trying to include yourself in a picture together with them!

Was lovely to see it at night. Unfortunately missed the lamplighter. Another reason to go back. Bridge was too full to put our padlock on without piggybacking on to someone elses :-(

CITIZEN of WROCLAW review - so yes, the Cathedral Island is a must see. It is a magical place for me, especially in the evening or even late night when all tourists are gone :-) Spend some time walking accross all small streets there, you will feel the city's climate.

Worth walking around this old part, seeing the architecture and taking it all in. Some beautiful history here.

We are traveling to Wroclaw year by year since 2011. Every time we are visiting Ostrow Tumski. It's a magic place where you can feel like the time has stopped. It's a MUST while visiting Wroclaw. So if you are there do not waste your time and go visit Ostrów Tumski.
