Simply Beautiful liked everything about the location. Scenery is incredible and never ending running trails. Lovely café there also overlooking the park.
We travelled from Dublin to see the narnia trail and were really impressed with the size of the park and range of activities... Loved the narnia trail and the restaurant provided a tasty reasonably priced lunch.
Visited here with my family and what a lovely park and forest.. Children loved the Narnia Trial and the climb to Cloughmore Stone.. Worth the visit
Kilbroney is a beautiful forest park. I've been bringing my children there since they were babies. They are now teenagers and we still never tire of it. Our latest visit took us around the Narnia trail which is just magical. We also enjoyed the new adult fitness area. It's the perfect place to while away a few hours.
Visited this attraction this morning with my two granddaughters. The Narnia trail and the park generally deserves 5 stars. However the restaurant needs to be improved. It is a big disappointment and for this reason I only give a 4 star rating to the overall park. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area. Children and adults alike will enjoy this park. There are lovely walks, a decent play park, great views, but do bring your own food!!!
Lovely view!Great value - and what a better way to spend a morning with friends over breakfast! All of us had breakfast and a sweet bite after! just great!
Tough climb to the top the flow of the trail is spoilt by boulders placed along the sides (why?) Good fun decent at the end. Two dh trails are badly designed.
i have used kilbroney park on many ocassions , mainly for daily excercise and pleasure trips for my 3 year old daughter to the swings in the play park. i live in the rostrevor area and am aware what goes on a daily basis .At the moment the park is over run with dog walkers ,some of these dog walkers have up to 4 dogs with them, these dogs are never on leads, small children are being terrorised by these mutts, not only th at these animals are constantly allowed to deficate freely were ever they want , i have remonstrated with owners of these pets on several occassions, about there behaviour . the staff of kilbroney park could not care less, having reported this behaviour on numerous occassions to the office in the park , next there is no one enforcing dogs must be kept on a lead at all times policy of park.
The walking opportunities here are immense. It's good that cyclists stick to their own tracks and don't interfere with the walkers. We did have trouble finding the start of our planned walk, which added a lot of extra walking to our trip. This was due to a vital signpost having been knocked down and lying in the bushes.Perhaps that could be corrected soon!
A great place to go with your family are your pets plenty to do park area for the kids to play football kids play area, and a fantastic walk up to the big stone breathtaking views of the mountains of mourne sweep down to the sea so peacefu,l if your visiting Ireland you know the crack prepare for the worst of the weather and hopefully you get a surprise lol enjoy whatever you do :-)
Very secure site. Felt safe leaving tents unattended and the onsite maintenance people went round several times a day cleaning the area of litter and stuff. was a bit wary when a group of people turned up with a saw and axe and started chopping wood for a fire...dunno what happened cause we left and they hadn't lit it when we left. Could have been an interesting showdown. Toilets and showers aren't great but I've seen worse. No one goes camping and expects spotless bathroom facilities do they? they were clean just in need of cosmetic refreshment. Couldn't see any drinking or cooking water available so be sure you bring your own. There is water for washing pots and 3 big sinks to use in the shower block. Lots of space for kids to explore and play and ride bikes. Very safe location. plus you have the mtb trails right there and the forest paths to hike on if you're not into biking. In all a very relaxing location with pleasant staff. Oh they ask for £20 in CASH when you arrive. we didn't know about that requirement. they dont have card facilities so do take cash. Theres a nice cafe open during the day above reception . Separate business I think but really nice.
We camped here recently with friends and will do our best to make it back another time. The park itself is relaxed yet there is a great buzz about it with families and friends just enjoying themselves. The shower/toilet block is clean and warm which can be difficult to get on some camping grounds. The walking trails from here are also great, you have different options such as a walk up to the stone, or up sleive martin if you have more time. Definitely a great place to camp!
This park is located close to the shores of Carlingford Lough. It's hilly, so not so good for a stroll. The car park at the bottom, near the campsite, leaves walkers with a lot of uphill to contend with. The viewing point at the top is pleasant, but not exceptional. Beware of the track to the left at the top car park. When we arrived, there were no signs to indicate any restrictions, but on the way up we met a bus, drawing a large trailer, which completely blocked the way and forced us to reverse all the way down, about one kilometre on difficult ground, with deeo ditches either side.
Great location for a beginner hike our first mountain climb. Can be as challenging or as relaxing as you want.
We recently stayed one night in Kilbroney caravan park in our motorhome and that was enough, the site alocated to us was so sloped we couldn't level the van even with ramps, we then asked the staff if we could move to one of the free level sites but were told no they are all booked, we also phoned a booking before arriving. Well the slope was so bad my sister in law fell out of bed, I couldn't stand up in our van and in all the time we were there I watched 2 level sites sitting vacant. The toilets smelled bad I was glad we had our own. There wasn't that much to do there either a big green park that's all. Avoid if possible.
