Lovely walk around Faskally with beautiful views and stopped to feed ducks at boating stationWeather of course not great
We went to see the enchanted forest in October, and it couldn't have been better. The wood with its atmospheric lighting, eerie music, fire and water shows, truly was enchanting. We arrived at 8pm and the wood was very very busy. There wasn't much opportunity for a quiet romantic walk, but as we only went the once I'm not sure if a different time would have been less packed. The show absolutely needs to be seen at night, I don't think it would have quite the impact if the sun was still shining. Couldn't recommend visiting here more, and was one of the greatest birthday gifts I've ever received.
Beautiful scenery lovely way to spend an afternoon. We went into Pitlochry and back over the dam then walked in the woods.
Small but nice forest to stroll through. All low level and easy for access. Limited parking space on site. Nice pond in the middleish of the forest with paths networking around. We've been there just before the enchanted forest experience opened and were treated to sight and sound rehearsals (for free). :-) Recommend to continue the walk along the river up to Killiecranckie for a nice couple of hours low level trip. Visit in the autumn - lots of leafy trees will ensure kaleidoscope of vivid colours.
I visit Faskally Wood yearly for the Enchanted Forest light show which is exhibited annually for all to view the beauty of nature in new light! The forest itself if beautiful with a small pond at the centre of the woods making it a scenic and relaxing location to visit all year round. I must recommend that, if you are going to visit Faskally, then wait until the Enchanted Forest show as it truly emphasises the beauty of the wood. Its amazing what lights can do to change the same location yearly without adding or moving the trees. It is important that you prepare for any weather though; when I visited, one women wore heels which was a bad idea considering it had been raining. I recommend a sturdy soled shoe and cosy clothing; waterproofs may also be an additionally good idea.
Loved it, very well organised, maybe price could be bit lower though, but will probably still go back again
If you are going to do anything next year you have to book to see the enchanted forest! It's a must see especially for young children! Beautiful scenes and lovely atmosphere, depending on the weather however that won't ruin your experience
After returning from a long business trip in the far east, it was most welcoming to feel a different balmy atmosphere here with my good lady. The atmosphere those wonderful woods people produce for this years theme of elements was thoroughly enchanting, great for families and people in Love.In 1 word 'AMAZING'
Great walks. Well signposted. Outstanding views.walks range from two to eight miles...........................
This was just an amazing event and I'm not surprised it has won awards. The theme this year was called Elemental and the various elements were beautifully portayed. The fountains jetting up from Loch Faskally were breathtaking and the colour changes and the music made it almost magical. The lighting of the trees and the variety of things to look at were spectacular. I loved the tubular flowers which were eerily beautiful and we all loved the Ice Element of the event. Something for everyone and we will be back! Just superb.
If you drive 5 mins from Pitlochry you can see wonderful scenery, beautiful walks, even the odd deer or two. Cyclists even have a few steep hills but they say it's worth the experience of a true Scottish Wood.Boat hire is also available close bye.
Was staying at nearby Dunkeld and walked here twice. Trees were beautiful at this time of year with lovely autumn colours. Had coffee and cake in the log cabin cafe by the car park which was a lovely way to round off a long walk. The cafe is not open in the winter I think and there are no toilet facilities. It is well sign posted walk although can be a bit steep and muddy in places.
For show to be seen at its advantage, it should be seen at night. Unfortunately the paths are not lit, (due to spoiling the light show) therefore they are dangerous. Slippery too. Poor signage. Impression given, organisers are only out to make money. Balloons stuck in children's faces the minute they arrive, overpriced food and drink, toilets insufficient. After looking forward to our visit, we won't be back !!
It was like in a fairy tail... bright show with great number of lighting! There were places with chilling sound effects... In the center of the loch there were a fire show and musical colorfull fontains. It seemed as if there were a lot of creatures around us such as gnomes and fairies. I wanted to take one more cycle but my husband carried me away to the shuttle bus... maybe he was scared!?;))
I had my experience in Faskaly woods when the lights theme was called flow. I must say the lights where terrific and i also went to the storyteller with my little sis who really enjoyed the natural effects the storyteller used. With all the ancient druid symbols and mystical sounds and colored reflections reflecting beautifully of the water. Faskaly woods really is a feast for the ears and eyes
