If I have to be honest, when I think of West Lothian I picture Livingstone surrounded by television static. I know it exists but I know nothing about it, it's towns or inhabitants. Last night I had an education and can honestly say it was one of the most fun nights out I've had in months. The Dreadnought is an old school rock pub. Hundreds of photos of punters, past and present, adorn the walls as do a few items of rock and roll memorabilia (I can't say I've heard of the guy who's trousers were on the wall but it was pretty cool)The drink is cheap. A round for eight of us cost £23 - in Edinburgh the same round would have cost closer to £40. The bar selection was varied and nobody had trouble finding something that they wanted to drink. A charming sign above the bar read "Our house wine is Jagermeister" which raised a few laughs from my group. The reason we were through in Bathgate was Led Astray. One of the UK's top Led Zeppelin tribute bands. One of my mates is related to the guitarist so we went through to check them out. Sound-wise the Dreadnought is great, loud, compact and clear. There are screens all over the bar so wherever you happen to be you can still watch what's going on up onstage.Apparently there is an upstairs too but we didn't get up there, having to run for the last train as soon as the band was done. All in all it's a great wee place and I can hand on heart say that I have never had a bad night out in West Lothian.
Wandered in here for the first time Saturday night. From door staff to the bar staff they were all pleasant and welcoming. My wife and I love live music and couldn't believe they had this gem of a pub in bathgate.Think the band on live were called we are not iguanas and they were superb.Never heard of the lager on offer, think it was called Hever Lee but it was a superb pint of lager. Will definitely be back soon.
A two level night club that plays mostly ROCK and a little roll... Very popular during the weekends... Staff is great, very good selection of beverages, back patio for smokers... We held the first RUSH Fan convention at the Dread and it was excellent... The staff were second to none in their support and helping with the days events! After the fan convention the upstairs featured a ROCK DJ with lot's of great tunes and video screens everywhere!
