I was very surprised to find a Botanic Garden of this size and quality here. It has an excellent collection, although it is beginning to show signs of neglect, with missing or out-dated labeling of some specimens. It seems to have very few gardeners working there - those that are, are doing a fine job, but they desperately need help.
There's a huge diversity of plants both in and outside of the greenhouses. Everything is well maintained and there's always something to see, whatever time of the year you go. Definitely worth a visit!
Alas a bad time of year to walk about the gardens, I can imagine it would be a great place to visit in the summer. Still, a great place to spend a few hours.
Beautiful gardens, especially at this time of year (autumn). A lovely Gruffalo walk to keep the kids amused if going with children. Lots of greenhouses to walk through if the weather not so good.
A fantastic place and a definite stop for anyone who comes to visit the town. The prices are totally reasonable and we are happy that it is being kept going. Overall a definite place to come during your time in St Andrews!
This is, quite simply, a most beautiful sanctuary on the outskirts of a quite bustling town which (I suspect) doesn't get enough support from its fixed population, nor from the many students who come here for their further education. To be honest, and to my shame, I haven't made enough of it until last week when (with a friend) I went wandering around its edges and through its middle. All was an eye-opener to an amazing collection of trees and plants from all over the world, the tranquillity of its pools (and the burn, running close by and the many dedicated seats. There has been talk of closing it down and, even now, there is still some doubt about might happen to its acreage after five years have passed, now that I have made my personal exploration. DO NOT MISS!!!!
We called in during the afternoon and spent a pleasant couple of hours wandering. Easy free parking on site. If you like gardens, then this must be on your tick list. No food was available when we were there, but I believe it has a small tea-room
such a lovely peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle. Its a delight to walk around such beautiful gardens.
Nice little attraction tucked away up a side street, but signed. If you like gardening it's for you. Walk through the woods, childrens activities, lots of photo opportunities. Would benefit from a proper cafe rather than a drinks machine in a hut.
Beautiful well laid out gardens. Tranquil spot with some wonderful specimens well worth the small fee. Facilities are a bit basic but does not detract from visit.
Excellent gardens to visit , come and go through out the day , staff very helping, good for only £2 per person great value for money, good to take a picnic , lots to see

A must-see for visitors to Fife and St. Andrews, if you have any interest in trees and flowers. A well laid out gardens, with excellent glass houses, and well cared for herbaceous beds. Also a lovely water and alpines area. Only thing missing was somewhere to get a cup of tea or coffee!
This botanic garden is tucked away but is well worth searching out. Many rare plants in a wonderful setting a short walk from the centre of St Andrews.
Came across the signs for these gardens by chance. It was a damp day but this did not detract from these beautiful gardens. Glorious setting with labels on lots of the plants and lots of seats to stop and take in the views. Staff very friendly and helpful. All-in-all a thoroughly enjoyable visit.
