I went here a few years ago. It was really fun and I got to hold a baby goat. I like it how they let you touch all the animals and help with the farm. They also get new pig once a year. It opens up once a day which is really nice, and while you are waiting you wait you can paddle in the stream and have lunch. EXCELLENT THOUGH!!!!!

Actually adults love it too! Good value for money and children can pet and hold chickens, bottle feed baby lambs, listen to funny commentary. Milk the cow. Watch sheep being milked. Groom the pony. Feed the greedy goats, and geese and ducks, see pigs, donkey and llamas. Have a pony cart ride. See a sheep shorn, eat a lolly made from sheets yogurt. Outside picnic area and rope swing over ditch. Their favourite outing. Can't recommend it enough. Plenty of hand washing facilities.

Had an excellent afternoon at Boydells. My grandsons loved the hands on experience. The guys made all the children welcome and allow them to get involved. If you have kids and they love animals then Boydells is the place to go.

This is clearly a working farm which is run by a family who enjoy their job. Unlike a lot of other farm attractions, youngsters have the opportunity to touch and feed the variety of livestock and the guided tour is a must. The youngster who I took thought the place 'fantastic' and on the drive home was nagging me to take him the next day! This is a fairly short review but I cannot really add to what others have said in their reviews apart from saying, if your kids like animals - just go!

I cant believe ive only just heard about this wonderful place. If you havent taken your children there yet you should do so. The farmer has such enthusiasm for his animals and speaks about each variety in such a way that the children learn such a lot,and they get the opportunity to feed lambs petchicks and even milk a cow. Definately a place to return to. Thank you to all for a wonderful afternoon.

I have taken my children to several farms, but Boydell's is by far the best! The guided tours are a must, as they are not only educational but also very funny (Kiley the farmer is very entertaining & witty). We've watched lamb's being born (amazing!) sheep being milked and sheared, bottle fed the lambs, held baby chicks & lambs, and milked a cow! It can be as hands on as you want it to be, but the kids absolutely love being able to get involved. This is a working farm, that only open for visitors in the afternoons, but there is plenty of time to see & do everything. Kids can also get a ride on a little cart, pulled by a shetland pony. I can't wait until next Easter to be able to visit again!

I have been to Boydells many times now and each time it does not disappoint. I have 2 young girls 4 and 1, they both love it. So much for the children to get hands on with in a safe environment. Kiley is a great farm guide and it is clear to see he and the rest of the team love what they do. We will be back again very soon.

Took both my kids here today. Was really enjoyable couple of hours. Kids got to feed & pet all the animals as well as finding out lots of interesting info. This is a family run farm & everyone was friendly !

We went as a family with 2 children aged 4 and 7. The children enjoyed all the hands on animal experiences with the opportunity to hand feed lots of animals, bottle feed the lambs, milk a cow, hold a baby chick and lamb, ride on a cart drawn by a Shetland pony and watch a sheep being sheared. The time flew by and the whole experience was totally enhanced by the farmer Kiley who was so knowledgable about the animals, and also told a few corny jokes too which was great fun. I would highly recommend this for anyone who has an interest in seeing how a real farm works and wants to get hands on experience. It really was excellent value for money compared to many other attractions I have been to. Make sure you bring your wellies, as it adds to the overall experience!

We visited with our 3 children aged 10, 6 + 3. All enjoyed the afternoon and the farm is much more hands on so the children fully interact with the animals. The farmers are all very patient and so are the animals which made it a lovely afternoon and something a little different. Also very reasonably priced

I went to the farm as a cheaper alternative to Colchester zoo during the school holidays with friends and their children!I'm so pleased we did, there was so much to see and the farmer had such a funny way about him it was good fun!I must say I have been to marsh farm and this was much much better and cheaper! You must try it, you won't be disappointed! It's opens at 2pm but if you park in the car park beforehand you can sit and have a picnic.

Great place to visit, better than any farm previously visited. Can really get hands on with the animals, holding feeding and milking. The farmer was brilliant with the children. My 6 year old had a great time.

We visited today and had so much fun I didn't want to leave let alone my children. We pulled up and I was so excited I woke my children up, as we went in it was reasonable price and free for under 3's which I have two of so even better. There was lots of hands on things to do..feeding animals, holding baby chicks, bottle feeding lambs, donkey rides, milking the cow, watching sheep being sheered. There's nice little sit and ride tractors for the little ones to go on and a nice picnic area.Hand washing is promoted well and the staff are friendly and the farmer is very good with the children making a learning experience too, he answered all our questions too. It's not open for a large amount of time but it's enough to see everything. It's so much better than the commercialised places like some I've been too and much prefer to go here and see a real working farm, it's also good because I have a twin buggy and it was able to go around easily. We can't wait to go back again, it's brilliant

Such a great afternoon, such a great place! Not even the rain could spoil the fun. Thank you Boydells.

We chose Boydells Farm for my son's 5th birthday initially for the value of money, but it turned out yesterday to be the best party and this was the main comment of the day from both parents and children. We had 90mins of jammed packed animal interaction and fun followed by a picnic which we provided and stream splashing. They offer pony and cart rides too but we just didn't have enough time to do it all! They do the parties when the farm is shut to the public so you get some amazing interaction. Other than providing a picnic for 21 kids is was a completely stress free party. I would highly recommend anyone to choose Boydells for their children's parties... It's amazing! 5 star.
